Hello NYC! Mike and Leigh here, Astoria locals and market organizers who are seeking your support as we launch the new Astoria Farmers Market this May 11th in partnership with 31st Ave Open Street!

Astoria Farmers Market serves to bring NY-sourced, direct-to-consumer foods from farmers and growers straight into the hands of our vibrant community. Though a widely recognized food capital in NYC, Astoria has never had a long-term established farmers market of its own—and we are determined to change that.

We have experienced overwhelming community interest and support so far! Since launching our website in mid-March, we have received over 130 responses to our locals survey and 50 vendor applications.

Through our GoFundMe campaign we hope to raise 60% of our 2025 season budget. We have $5,700 in startup costs and a monthly operating budget of approximately $1,800 to cover event necessities such as:

Health & Safety:

• Handwash Station

• First Aid Kit & CPR Training

• Bathroom access for vendors

• Cleaning supplies

• Water

Operations:

• Tents & weights/tie-downs

• Portable PA System

• Administrative Supplies

• Tables & tablecloths

• Point of sale system

• Extension cords

• Waste bins

• Cash float

Marketing:

• Live Entertainment

• Paid advertising: Local newspapers, community bulletins, social media

• Website subscription

• Printing costs

Mike & Leigh have combined over 20 years of experience working in food, events and hospitality, plus strong working relationships with wholesalers, farmers and other vendors from the Hudson Valley to Long Island. AFM will be compliant with all health and safety measures as well as working with licensed vendors as necessary.

AFM takes place the Second Sundays of the month, this May 11 through November 9. Participation for all vendors this year is FREE! Please donate, share, and most importantly JOIN US for Astoria Farmers Market’s inaugural year!
