A mis 56 años, buscando una mejor calidad de vida, el pasado mes de octubre del 2022 emigré de Venezuela a España. El 2 de diciembre del mismo año 2022, conseguí empleo en mi oficio de Pastelera. En enero del 2023 me diagnosticaron un tumor maligno en mi lengua que hizo metástasis. El cáncer se extendió a uno de los ganglios linfáticos del cuello. Un diagnóstico totalmente inesperado ya que siempre he estado comprometida en llevar un estilo de vida saludable. No tengo ningún tipo de adicciones, no fumo, no bebo y mi alimentación es muy sana.

El 2 de febrero de 2023 me operaron. En el procedimiento quirúrgico me quitaron parte de la lengua. Debido a la localización del cáncer y a la metástasis, los ganglios linfáticos también fueron extraídos completamente en el lado derecho del cuello para evitar que se extendiera a otras partes del cuerpo. Por lo delicado de la ubicación, el comité médico decidió realizarme treinta y tres (33) sesiones de radioterapia tanto en la boca como en el cuello. Todo ello originó muchos efectos secundarios. No hablo con claridad y no puedo masticar los alimentos teniendo que consumir dieta blanda y líquida. Como resultado, presento un cuadro clínico de desnutrición, me siento débil.

La cirugía o disección del cuello, ha traído también como consecuencia el haber perdido la movilidad del cuello, hombro y brazo derecho. He realizado terapia de rehabilitación, sin embargo ya no tengo las mismas habilidades físicas para mover mi brazo como antes. Los médicos me informaron que es irreversible, por lo que me recomendaron tramitar lo que se llama “Reconocimiento de grado de discapacidad” que tarda un (1) año aproximadamente en ser aprobado.

Este diagnóstico cambió mi vida. Implica incluso que, después de más de 20 años dedicados a la gastronomía, deba buscar y prepararme en un nuevo oficio.

Quedé sin empleo y sin ayuda económica ya que sistema de seguridad social en España indica que debo tener al menos 6 meses mínimo de trabajo continuo para optar por alguna ayuda gubernamental. El día de la operación solo tenía 2 meses trabajando, en período de prueba. Debí darme de baja laboral para asistir a la cirugía y cumplir el tratamiento. Cuando notifiqué a la empresa el diagnóstico, decidieron prescindir de mis servicios.

El Sistema de Salud español ha cubierto aproximadamente un 70% de los costos de operación, radioterapia, medicamentos, complementos alimenticios, seguimiento médico y rehabilitación. El 30% restante referente a compra de medicamentos, transporte para asistir a las citas, alimentación y servicios, los he costeado con mis ahorros, una ayuda básica para alimentos de la AEContra el Cáncer y la colaboración de familiares y amigos maravillosos que me han apoyado generosamente como han podido. Sin embargo, todos los recursos económicos se agotaron.

Debo mudarme urgentemente del lugar donde resido, pero no tengo la disponibilidad ni la capacidad monetaria para hacerlo. En estas condiciones de salud, me siento física y emocionalmente muy afectada.

Con tu generosidad tendría una nueva oportunidad para poder recuperarme bajo un techo seguro y digno, tener estabilidad para retomar la búsqueda de un empleo, un nuevo oficio y seguir adelante.

Un día a la vez, el tiempo que me quede por vivir.

El presupuesto es:

.Alquiler y servicios por 6 meses (más fianza) 400 € x 7 meses= 2.800 €

.Tratamiento terapéutico psicológico: 60 € x 10 sesiones= 600 €

.Limpieza dental = 140 €

.Transporte: 60 € x 6 meses= 360 €

.Medicinas y complementos nutricionales: 100 € x 6 meses= 600 €

TOTAL= 4.500 €

(Por transferencias directas a mi cuenta bancaria y otros medios, he recibido hasta hoy un total de 800€.

Por ello, he cambiado el objetivo final de esta campaña. Falta menos.

Nunca imaginé llegar a este punto de vulnerabilidad y riesgo. Desde muy jóven estudié, me preparé, trabajé sin tregua y creé un proyecto de vida para llegar a mi edad con mis necesidades cubiertas. Hasta ahora no ha sido posible. No tengo hijos, tampoco pareja. Mi familia tiene sus propias responsabilidades. Todo este proceso ha sido abrumador y doloroso en todo sentido.

Más especificaciones sobre mi diagnóstico:

Dignóstico clínico: “Carcinoma epidemoide ulcerado, grado histológico G2, en el borde lateral derecho de la lengua, que hizo “metástasis ganglionar en uno de los 19 ganglios linfáticos aislados”

Intervención médica: Procedimiento quirúrgico llamado “glosectomía lateral parcial y vaciamiento supraomohioideo derecho”. Por la afectación ganglionar y su localizacióm, el comité médico decidió hacer 33 sesiones de “Radioterapia adyuvante en el lecho hemiglosectomía y en cadenas ganglionares bilaterales”.

At 56 years old, in search of a better quality of life. Last October 2022 I emigrated from Venezuela to Spain. On the 2nd of December of the same year 2022, I got a job in my profession as a pastry chef. In January 2023, I was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in my tongue that metastasized and the cancer already had spread to one of the lymph nodes in my neck. A totally unexpected diagnosis as I have always been committed to living a healthy lifestyle. I have no addictions of any kind, I don't smoke, I don't drink and my diet is very healthy.

The 2nd of February of 2023 I had an operation. During the surgical intervention, part of my tongue was removed. Due to the location of the cancer and the metastasis, the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck were also completely removed to prevent the cancer from further spreading to other parts of my body. Because of the delicate location, the medical committee decided to give me 33 (thirty-three) sessions of radiation therapy in both my mouth and neck.

All this has caused many side effects. I do not speak clearly; I cannot chew food and I have to follow a soft and liquid diet. As a result of all that, I have a clinical state of malnutrition. I am weak and without strength.

As result of the neck surgery, called neck dissection, I experience the loss of mobility of my neck, shoulder and right arm. I have undergone rehabilitation therapy, but I no longer have the same physical ability to move my right arm as before. The doctors informed me that this is an irreversible condition, so they have recommended to go through what is called “Disability Recognition Degree” which takes approximately one (1) year to be approved.

This diagnosis changed my life completely. It also implies that after more than 20 years dedicated to gastronomy, I have to look and prepare myself for a new profession.

I became unemployed and without any financial support. The social security system in Spain states that I must have at least 6 months of continuous work to be eligible for any government assistance. On the day of the surgery, I only had 2 months of probationary employment. I had to take time off work to attend the surgery and complete the treatment. When I informed the company of my diagnosis, they decided to stop my contract.

The Spanish Health System has covered about 70% of the costs of surgery, radiotherapy, medications, nutritional supplements, medical follow-up and rehabilitation. The remaining 30%, which refers to the purchase of medicines, transportation to appointments, food and services, I have paid with my savings and with the help of wonderful family members and friends who have generously supported me as much as they could. However, all my economic resources are exhausted.

I urgently need to move from where I live, but I have neither the availability nor the financial capacity to do so. Under this health conditions, I feel physically and emotionally compromised.

With your generosity, I would have a new opportunity to recover under a safe and dignified roof over my head, to have the stability to resume the search for a job, a new trade, and to move forward.

One day at a time, for as long as I live.

-Rent and services for 6 months (plus deposit) 400 € x 7 months= 2.800 €.

-Psychological therapeutic treatment: 60 € x 10 sessions= 600 €.

-Dental cleaning = 140 €.

-Transportation: 60 € x 6 months= 360 €.

-Medicines and nutritional supplements: 100 € x 6 months= 600 €.

(By direct transfers to my bank account and other means, I have received up to today a total of €800.

Therefore, I have changed the ultimate goal of this campaign. Less to go.

I never imagined that I would reach this point of vulnerability and risk. Since I was very young, I studied, prepared myself, worked tirelessly and projected my life to reach an old age with all my needs covered. So far it has not been possible. I do not have children or a partner. My family has its own responsibilities. This whole process has been overwhelming and painful in every way.
