Athena Thompson basketball journey to USA

Hi, my name is Athena Thompson, I am raising funds to help me travel to the USA to play basketball at a high school.

I have been training very hard for years in the hope of going over to the USA to continue with my dream of playing professional basketball. During 2023 and 2024, I have represented England and Great Britain. This August, I will travel to Turkey with the U16 Great Britain team to play in the European Championships. When I return, I will fly out to Connecticut in August to join PSA high school. I am so excited to go to the USA to play basketball also I am nervous about leaving all my friends and family, but I am determined to experience basketball in the USA. Before I go, I am hoping to raise funds to help me with my travel to Connecticut and back to the UK for the holidays.

I would also love to raise the awareness of girls’ basketball in the UK, I was awarded Great Britain U16 player of the year for 23/24 and I would love it if more girls to get involved in basketball. I hope that my journey will help and inspire other girls to get into basketball or another sport.

I am going to make 1000 Free throws in less than 3 hours, during this time I will have 1 person rebounding. I will make 1000 baskets! I hope that I can raise £1000 for the 1000 shots. Any donation no matter how small is really appreciated as it will help me in this exciting journey.
