Athenalynn’s Cardiac Journey

Hello, my name is Keyna, I am Athenalynns mom! When she was born January 15, 2023, she was diagnosed with Trisomy 21 as well as a few heart problems. She has a VSD(ventricular septal defect), an ASD(atrial septal defect) and a PDA(Patent ductus arteriosus). She was born into respiratory distress and had a 32 day stay in the NICU. She also has Laryngomalacia and, hypothyroidism. All of these things are big scary words with big scary solutions. Since she was born she has had routine echocardiograms and monitoring through her local cardiologist. We knew early on heart surgery was a possibility it just wasn’t said for sure if we would be facing it for sure. We finally scheduled her open heart surgery! Surgery is set for March 11th! We will be in Ft Worth at Cooks children’s where they will be preforming the surgery. After surgery she will be in the hospital for a minimum of 7 days. We are asking for donations to help cover travel and all the expenses that come with it. The biggest expense right now is a rental car, return flights, and childcare for KaizLynn while we are there. We will be missing work and don’t qualify for FML at this time. We would appreciate any donations, kind words and, always all the prayer we can get. Thank you so much for any contributions made. ❤️
