Urgent Trip Home

A few weeks ago I found out my mother has Pancreatic Cancer, it wasn't until a few days ago that we learned just how advanced it was.  She has stage 4 cancer that has spread to her liver as well as one lung.  She will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks and has been given "8 months to a year", but let's face it, cancer is nasty, and aggressive.

I live in Oregon and my mother lives in California, it has been about 14 years since I have seen her due to health, medical and financial struggles on both sides.  And while my health has improved, my financial situation has not.  Currently I am a stay home disabled mother taking care of an autistic child, finances are limited and we live check-to-check, with no surplus savings set aside. 

My son, who is now 6 years old, has never met his grandmother and it would break my heart if she passed away having never met him, so this trip is for both of us.  It would mean a great deal to all of us for him to finally meet her and for me to get to see her one more time before the inevitable happens.

The money collected will pay for round trip tickets for both of us, cover a place for me and my son to stay while in California, transportation, meals for us both and any incidentals.
