ATLANTA DANCERS RELIEF FUND

Industry Dancers in Atlanta are in need of your help during this time.
What is an industry dancer? The professional dance industry is made up of dancers, choreographers, teachers, creative directors, and many others. We train to be able to entertain the world. We make our money on tours, at dance classes, industrial events, festivals, television, movies, music videos, and many other major performance events. Due to the corona virus outbreak, all gatherings have now been prohibited and many of us have lost all of our gigs and jobs completely.
On a regular day, sans a worldwide pandemic, industry dancers live check to check. Sometimes we have to wait 30-60 days to receive a check for jobs that have already passed. So, when it comes to preparedness for an unexpected epidemic as monumental as Covid-19, our community lacks the resources needed to stay afloat.
In many places, not just Atlanta, dancers are largely disconnected from medical resources readily available to other professional athletes due to low income, tenuous job stability, lack of adequate health insurance (if any at all), poor worker’s compensation, and underdeveloped networking systems between dancers and medical institutions.
I recently did a poll on my Instagram for dancers who are being financially affected by the current crisis and the affected percentage was well over 75%. Most dancers in Atlanta moved far away from their hometowns and families to begin a dream and don’t have anyone to turn to.
With your help and donation to the Atlanta Dancers Relief Fund, we will be able to send financial help to dancers in need of health funds, essential utilities, and food. We would also like to set up a food drive for our community and feed as many dancers as we possibly can.
Please help us reach our current goal of $5,000 by sharing our cause with family, friends, and colleagues to help get the word out to potential donors and dancers in need. All proceeds will go to the ATL Dance Community and are 100% tax deductible.
Anything helps. Thank you so much for supporting. We will get through this together.
