Run Hope Work is a nonprofit organization that transforms the lives of young adults in crisis. They provide at-risk individuals an opportunity to get their life back on track through running, mentorship, and free training in construction trades.

Although I never met the founder, Jose Ortiz, his mission and dedication to this cause inspire me to ride. Jose modeled the program after his own path to success, after struggling with addiction and homelessness. Jose received a second chance from a mentor who taught him the trade of flooring and friends who introduced him to running and triathlon.

Tragically, Jose was struck and killed while riding his bike in April 2023.
