Hello everybody my name is Kari. I am a survivor. I am a survivor for my now 2 year old,Karmik.I am an advocate for burn victims awareness. I am advocate for women in general in all types of comprimising situation.I am a voice for myself.Learning to love yourself is hard. I am also bald. First, from a skin graft in the back, Second , from my newly diagnosed leukemia.26% of my body is covered in third degree burns. I permanently have a Montgomery trach. On November 13,2022 I had lighter fluid thrown on me from behind. I was instantly engulfed in flames.I ran around in shock screaming for anyone to help, burning alive. A cop happened to drive by and put me out eventually with a chemical blanket. After being airlifted to Syracuse Upstate Medical Burn unit I beat the odds and survived. I awoke 45 days later from an intubated coma. Surgeries continued as I laid there covered in bandages. When I finally was released I went 7 months unable to speak because of the type of trach.I carried around a marker board to communicate.I mentally and physically I try to recover from the attack. My son is my rock,my,hope,my joy,my purpose! I have a lot of medical and psychiatric appointments.13 months go by. I go to the E.R. for pneumonia, and never leave. I have leukemia. I've been here receiving chemo twice for a month and a half . That is done now and I receive platelets and blood transfusions. Then there is a bone marrow biopsy to tell me where I'm truly at in all this. I let my vulnerability out and shared why this is so important and real to my son Karmik and I. I have 0 income. I've applied for ssi twice. Our old bills will get stacked under the newer ones. Donations will go towards being able to live appropriately. I will need help caring for myself when I am discharged from Albany Med. need everything from clothes to diapers to lotion.(Which I constantly have to apply)Transportation, gas, Ubers. All of this is hard to come by.We do not have a vehicle. That is our super goal.To everyone who reads this know every day is a blessing. Also, thanks for listening.
