Please help Heather with her medical expenses!

My friend has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome which is an extremely rare progressive autoimmune neurological disease. You may have heard it in the news because it's the same disease that Celine Dion has. Heather moved to Florida for her dream job as a pediatric oncology nurse, where she worked at All Children's for over 11 years. She has had issues for several years now and missed lots of work but was unfortunately misdiagnosed. She is now permanently disabled and unable to work. Heather's career was such a large part of her identity, and she has struggled mentally, physically, and financially. She has been out of work since September 2023 now lives on SSDI. She's been hospitalized several times with numerous complications. The medical bills are nonstop and the cost of living in general has been very difficult to keep up with. Currently, Heather is being treated by USF and the SPS expert Dr. Newsome in Baltimore. She will need to travel to Baltimore every 6 months. Heather is not Medicare eligible until March 2026 so is stuck paying $1.053 monthly for COBRA to keep receiving her care and medications. If you know Heather, then you know that she would never ask for anything because she is such an independent person. However, at the time she needs our help, and will for a while.
