Help bring a swap shop to Atlanta!

Is your closet full of nice clothes you don’t wear? Or maybe you have a pile of items you’ve been meaning to sell online. But what if I told you there was a way that you could easily trade all the clothes you don’t need for new and exciting items? And what if I told you it would cost you less than $2 a piece?

You’re probably thinking - this is definitely too good to be true. And you’d be right - but only because it doesn’t exist (quite) yet.

My name is Taryn Montgomery, and I am the founder of Attire Rotation, Atlanta’s largest clothing swap. For several years I've noticed a gap in the clothing and textile industry. Did you know only 16 percent of donated clothes is used, and 84 percent ends up in landfill and incinerators? What is causing this?

Overconsumption through fast fashion hurts our planet AND causes extreme ethical issues for the ones making our clothes.

The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of annual global carbon emissions, more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. At this pace, the fashion industry’s greenhouse gas emissions will surge by more than 50% by 2030.

For so long, we have had to choose between being sustainable or affordable. But I strive to change this with your help.

Introducing clothes swapping into our textile eco-system is imperative in remedying these issues. And it should be the first step when reevaluating the clothing in your closet.

Not only is swapping the obvious choice for the planet but also our wallets. Our swapping model is the cheapest way to refresh your closet out there. For $40, you can swap 25 items which come out to an impressive $1.60 per item.

Unfortunately, traditional funding options are not available to us due to this being a new concept. So we are asking the community for help raising capital to open our first store early 2023!

Your donation can work in two ways:

1. It can just be a donation if you support the concept

2. Your donation total will be doubled and added to store credit for future use at our swap shop! For example, donating $10 gives you $20 store credit.

No need to select either option - show us your donation receipt when we open to receive your credit!

With your help, we can open our doors in early 2023 to fill a much-needed gap in our community!
