I am begging for help for this beautiful family. Both of them are teachers, and sweet JR. will be in the hospital for months. Please please consider donating to this family to help with medical bills and living expenses to keep them afloat during the tragedy.

“This is Heather Ray. I have Matt’s phone. Tonight has been the absolute most terrifying night of my entire life and I mean that literally.

I received a phone call that was so mortifying… all I could do was scream and run not knowing where to run. I was frantic. I was scared. My husband could only scream my name twice on the phone. My name. That’s it. I was screaming his back and I knew I had to run. I had to find them.

My mom took off and grabbed the car. I ran bare footed through gravel screaming for my mom to help. My mom took off down the road and we came up to one of our neighbors who told us to be calm… he needed to warn us that it was bad. I was screaming for my mom to go just go. Just get there. Then I heard the word ATV.

My mom floored it through the field where Matt was covered in blood from head to toe. His face was hanging off. He had his hands up telling me to stop and not to look. His arm was dangling and hanging in the shape of a question mark. His face was peeled over his eye and blood was pouring in clots and his eye was swollen shut. His face was the size of a pumpkin.

Jr was laying in the field behind him staring up at the sky. When I saw him… I started screaming. My mom grabbed me and then I saw his leg. I thought it was missing. His skin had been sliced from the thigh to the ankle. His thigh was so far from his little body and his ankle and knee were opposite of each other. His femur was sticking straight out and the skin was completely sloshed off to the side. I’ve never, not even in movies, seen so much blood.

My husband saved our son’s life. He asked my neighbor for his belt and cinched it as a tourniquet to help slow the bleeding. He did this with a broken arm, wrist, and hand.

Little man was in shock. He was ice cold. He was sweating. We were waiting on the careflights and EMTs to arrive. My mom dove to her knees and prayed in the mighty name of Jesus. I wasn’t there. Physically I was there next to Jr. but I wasn’t there. I couldn’t check on Matt I couldn’t do anything.

The EMTs placed the pads for the paddles on my son’s chest. He had lost too much blood and they had to transfuse him right there in the field. He kept saying the pads were “just in case.” My baby wasn’t doing well. His vitals were bottoming out. Both of my boys were being careflighted to two different hospitals. I couldn’t be on either helicopter.

My mom floored it to children’s and Matt’s mom went to parkland to be with him.

It’s bad. It’s bad for both of my babies. My husbands face is mangled and he has to have surgery on his arm.

My baby boy had extensive surgery tonight… with multiple surgeries this week and into the future. Multiple debridement procedures at the 2-4-6 day marks are crucial to try and save his leg. Multiple breaks and his growth plate shattered in his knee. We are looking at tons of physical therapy. The major concern is of course the bones… but even more so… the size of the soft tissue wound.

I am begging you to please continue praying for my family. Please pray. My boys need the power of prayer. God has done the miraculous and kept my babies alive… now I need them to heal. Please… please pray for my family.”
