Austin Face Shields – support ATX first responders
Donation protected
Making & distributing face shields to first responders & medical professionals in Austin, TX.
Local artists shift gears into shield production. We're making a face shield that is hospital approved and is a stop-gap measure to protect our medical professionals while working in harsh conditions amid COVID-19.
A donation of $32 helps protect 4 healthcare workers. Your donation covers the cost of materials and production. Our team is donating our time toward the effort.
KEY COMPONENTS OF OUR HERO SHIELDS
• Approved for hospital use
• Reusable, all-plastic design that can be wiped down and sanitized
• Medical grade PETG plastic
• Fits eyewear & facial mask beneath the shield
• Adjustable headband
• Made in Austin, Texas
We're calling our shield the HERO SHIELD. We cannot express enough thanks to hospital staff, first responders and medical professionals who put their life on the line every day for our safety, and they are our true HEROES. We've created this campaign to help ensure that everyone who needs protective gear in ATX can attain it.
WHO WE ARE
We're local makers who sell our goods at your local farmer's market (SoCo & Mueller) and in your favorite made-in-Austin stores. We've switched gears from leather and wood to create these life-saving shields. Local artist shifted production to make shields as soon as she learned there was a need. Katrina Marhefka, owner of Espacio Handmade, has connected a network of makers to help cut these Hero Shields. Special thanks to her husband John Andrus, who helped spearhead the project, and Julio Carreon-Reyes, Will Goodwin and BJ Heinley for using their lasers for the greater good. They are all donating most or all of their time on this project.
OUR GOAL
We currently have enough plastic to make about 2000 shields. We are distributing them to healthcare workers in need as we make them. Our goal is to raise enough funds to pay for the material and production of these life-saving shields so we can give them all away for no cost to our medical professionals while working in harsh conditions amid coronavirus.
