Aubree’s 2nd battle of Cancer
Donation protected
My daughter Aubree, was originally diagnosed with cancer at 10 months old. Her first brain surgery to remove the plum size tumor was October 7th 2014. Unc was only able to remove 60% of the tumor and gave us little hope for life after. After this surgery, she lost the ability to eat my mouth and needed a Gtube put in to get her nutrition. She also lost hearing in her right ear. After spending 3 weeks in ICU, unc cleared us for a Med flight to st.Judes where we would start a protocol there. The protocol consisted of 2 months of Chemo, a second brain surgery to remove the rest of the tumor and then another 2 months of chemo, followed my radiation for 6 weeks in Jacksonville. We did the 2 months of chemo and the second brain surgery to remove the rest of the tumor. Thankfully, Dr.Boop removed the rest of the tumor. Aubree did end up getting 5th nerve palsy, where she can’t feel the right side of her face. Because of this, she can’t feel her right eye either. When she was getting treatment, she would rub her eyes not knowing that she couldn’t feel them and because of that, she now has scar tissue over her right eye. The only way to fix this is a cornea transplant which is a very complicated surgery. We’ve decided to put that off for now. We were almost at our 5 year mark of being cancer free but unfortunately, her cancers back! They saw something on her scans in July but wasn’t confident enough to say it was cancer, but was concerned enough to bring us back in 6 weeks to re-scan. During that 6 weeks, her tumor more than doubled in size. Her Oncologist said that we could repeat what we did almost 5 years ago, considering it gave us 5 years with her and he seemed to think this treatment would give us a few more quality years with her. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked up against us, but we are hopeful between prayers and Miss Aubrees strength, we can beat this for good. Aubrees 3rd brain surgery to remove the cancer is Wednesday sept 18th, then we will start another 6 weeks of Proton Radiation. During this time, Matt will had Ayden, while I’ll be in Memphis with Aubree. My heart breaks knowing I won’t be with Ayden, but I’m hopeful that one day he will understand why I have had to do what I’ve done. Explaining cancer to Aubree and Ayden has been so hard for me. I have had a huge amount of people reach out to me asking where they can donate and how they can help. With me having to take a leave of absence at work to be with Aubree and possibly not being able to go back (depending on a lot of different factors) this has put us in a bit of a financial situation :( Although St.Judes will pay for Aubree’s treatment and flight tickets for me and her, it doesn’t include tickets for Matt and Ayden, or our bills back at home. I’ve been worried sick over not working. If you are not able to donate, please pray! Pray for our sweet girl. Also, please follow her page if you haven’t already to get updates on her. The page is Prayers for Aubree.
