Aubrey's Education Fund
Donation protected
In honor of Jeffrey, and at his request, we have established a FUND to support Aubrey's college education. Our ultimate goal, or at least her ultimate reality, is a to gather enough funds to allow her to make solid choices for her education without excessive financial burden. Therefore we are setting the ultimate goal fairly high based upon current college tuition forecasting for 2023/24.
Any and all contributions in honor of Jeffrey, no matter how big or how small, will be welcome!
Of course, Jefferey would also be quite pleased if you were inclined to make donations to lung cancer research in his name as well.
Jeffrey Poehlmann was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer on November 6th, 2014 and given a prognosis of 4 months. Beginning the following day, Jeffrey set out to publicly chronicle his experiences with treatment with the belief that cancer is not a death sentence. He focused on the science of cancer research, the real daily effects he was experiencing, and the myths around cancer care through a variety of media including print, blogs, web sites, video and spoken word. Through this work over the past four years, he was able to touch countless people, cancer patients, family and friends, caregivers, medical and healthcare professionals and plenty of people even a few steps removed from the immediacy of cancer. Nearly four years after his diagnosis, well beyond the four months he was statistically allotted, Jeffrey passed away from complications of cancer reoccurring in his other lung on October 21st, 2018.
His writing turned out to be his professional passion and purpose and will leave a lasting impact. His personal passion and purpose was his daughter Aubrey and the reason we have established this fund in her name at Jeffrey's request in his will. It was his hope that guaranteeing a college education for his daughter would also create a lasting impact.
We thank you for all of your love, kindness and support.
Love,
Wiloe and Aubrey Poehlmann
