Audio In Color: BIPOC Romance Audiobooks 2024

Donation protected
Audio in Color is a federally registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to increasing diversity and representation in the romance and audiobook industry. Thanks to your support, we are now in our THIRD grant cycle, so our goal is $33,333.
We grant funds to authors who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color, writing in the romance genre and looking to create their first independently-published audiobook. It’s our aim to provide not just the funds for production, but also inclusive access and support to these authors, where they otherwise might encounter significant barriers.

TWO of our grant recipients, Jen Trinh and Katrina Jackson, have been finalists in the Audie Awards, often known as the Oscars of Audiobooks.

Our mission is to foster equity and accessibility in the industry while celebrating diverse voices. We support authors color, helping them produce high-quality audiobooks and share their stories with a global audience. Additionally we hope to diversify romance consumers’ listening and to provide greater opportunities for BIPOC narrators.
Our overall intention is that author recipients will use proceeds earned from this grant-funded release as seed money toward future indie audio releases and their author businesses.

Your donation of any amount supports grants to Authors of Color. These funds also allow us to compensate our judges for the time spent reading and discussing submissions through two rounds of adjudication. With over 90 grants submitted, that's a lot of reading!
