Audiobook campaign for indie disabled author's debut novel

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Stephanie Rose, I am a disabled author and online bookshop owner. My debut psychological thriller/horror novel, Hiding Lies, was released 10/29/24. As a disabled individual accessibility is super important to me and I want to make my book available in audio format too.

WHAT IS MY DONATION PAYING FOR SPECIFICALLY?

I have received a few quotes from desired narrators along with their estimated production costs. This includes manuscript prep, studio time, engineering, and performance. After they narrate it goes to an audio editor who performs the editing, mastering, and quality control.

I will be hiring two narrators since Hiding Lies has two POVs. One of their teams will complete the audio editing making it ready for distribution. With guidance from Libro.fm I will be using Author's Republic for distribution on Libro.fm, Libby, Google Play, Spotify, Hoopla, Apple, Audible and more. There is no up front cost for this rather a percent is taken from future royalties. This helps make Hiding Lies accessible in countries around the world, through retailers, and libraries.

The estimated cost to create an audiobook for Hiding Lies and make it available to the world is approximately $6,000. This is with professional narrators and will be available outside of Amazon. I could make the audiobook cheaper but at what cost? Amazon offers Virtual Voice but that takes money away from audiobook narrators/actors who deliver incredible performances. I also don't want to go the Amazon route because it means my audiobook will only be available exclusively through them.
