Audrey's Care
Donation protected
This fundraising page was established for our much beloved friend Audrey Scott. We have worked together at the Police Department for over 18 years and have become family, bonding as sisters. We would like to support her as she faces an unexpected health challenge.
In May of this year, Audrey had what doctors determined was a nocturnal seizure while sleeping. This was highly unusual, as Audrey is an otherwise healthy and active marathon runner, who is always jetting off to some far away locale or dancing in the aisles at a country-western concert. People often compare her to Waldo asking, Where’s Audrey? She is always on the move. Her doctor ordered a CT scan which revealed abnormal shading in the left frontal lobe area of her brain. Upon further testing, this shading was confirmed to be a mass or tumor. Audrey and her family did their homework and consulted with several neurological experts regarding the best course of treatment. Ultimately, it was decided that the tumor would be removed and the procedure was successfully completed at Stanford Hospital on June 25th. A biopsy was recently completed and the tumor has been confirmed to be Grade III cancer.
Audrey will be heading to Texas to complete chemotherapy and radiation treatment, which is expected to last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. After consultation with her doctors at Stanford, the treatment will take place at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. MD Anderson is renowned as the leading cancer treatment facility in the country. This will enable Audrey to be supported by the love and encouragement of her family there in Texas, while receiving top-notch, cutting-edge care.
Audrey is a beautiful light, whose love, laughter and warmth touches the lives of so many. She is a vibrant, energetic, and talented woman who has accomplished much in her life and who has even greater things on the horizon. Her dynamic spirit knows no bounds. She is strong at the core, a tough Texas girl, through and through. We have every expectation that she will confidently face this challenge just as she has every other in her life. And that we will see her back in the stands cheering her beloved Rangers to victory, while belting out a Randy Houser tune!
The next steps in Audrey’s care are already in motion. The plan for the treatment phase is for her to be driven by a family member from their home base in Dallas to Houston (or the surrounding area) each week for treatment. As Houston is approximately four hours away, they will stay in a hotel for the week and return to Dallas on the weekend. She will not return to work for the remainder of the year.
The donations received on this page will go directly to assisting Audrey with out of pocket medical costs, lodging, transportation, food, medications, and any other expenses related to her treatment and care. Any contribution to this effort, no matter how small, will be welcomed with the utmost gratitude of Audrey and her family.
Please visit Audrey’s FB Care page to share words of encouragement with her. The comfort of friends will be a tremendous help to her in the coming months.
Thank you for your love, support and continued prayers.
