Aughrim Village Defibrillator replacement
Donation protected
My Name is Nate, im a paramedic and me and my family moved to Aughrim in 2022 from Australia. The village has had an Automatic External a Defibrillator (AED) outside John Burkes for a number of years which thankfully has never been used. This has recently been decommissioned because it was in need of replacement. As there is no Community First Responder group in the area ive decided to fundraise to get another defibrillator to provide this essential service to our community. The funds raised will go towards replacing the AED, replace any consumable stores required and hopefully have enough left to keep it running for a number of years until a First Responder Group can be organised. Im happy to take responsibility for this in the long term.
For those who dont know, a Automatic External Defibrillator is a device that a first aider attaches to a patient experiencing cardiac arrest. This device when activated, will automatically detect a patients heart rythum and if required, administer an electric shock in order to attempt to make the heart beat properly again.
It is essential we have one in our community as ambulance responses times are at an old time low.
Thanks for your generosity. Remember it could be you or your family that need this device one day.
