Auraya needs our help

Hi, my name is Jacob. I have started a GoFundMe for my close friend Auraya who desperately needs the love and financial support of her friends and any compassionate people who are willing to help her cause.

A little about Auraya,

Auraya suffers daily from a condition called Ehlers-danlos syndrome.

Ehlers-danlos syndrome is a rare genetic birth disorder that leads to low collagen levels in the body. This causes hypermobility and affects all connective tissues in the body. People with Ehlers-danlos have a wide range of issues they must deal with every day. Eventually, this leads to spinal instability, dislocations, weak internal organs, heart and brain dysfunctions as well as problems with the autonomic nervous system.

It’s a chronic lifelong condition without a cure.

Auraya is simply trying to find the best-suited ways to keep comfortable as this syndrome progresses.

Lately, Auraya’s health has gone downhill. After losing most of her mobility she has been bedridden for the last 6-7 months. Battling spinal degeneration, daily dislocations and severe issues with internal organs, she spends a lot of time back and forth from the hospital with increasing medical needs and expenses.

Medications, care, supplements, therapies and ambulance/medical bills have all become in-depth financial stresses. As the means for a comfortable life start to become more and more financially unrealistic, Auraya has started seeking the aid of the few specialists and experimental therapies that may be able to help alleviate the worst of the situation.

Auraya is desperately seeking the funds and ability to live a life without continous pain and overwhelming personal debt. Eventually, Auraya hopes to travel out of country to access better care.

In addition, I would like to bring to light the amazing efforts of Auraya's partner Harrison. Since Auraya's health has rapidly started to degrade, Harrison has single handedly covered her medical expenses and kept a roof over their heads while dealing with the increasingly overwhelming cost of living. Apart from being the sole provider, Harrison has been Auraya's daily caretaker. I have seen the excruciating tole this has taken on them and am beyond proud of everything he has done.

Despite Harrison's best efforts, and that of the Canadian Red Cross and the Canadian Disability Plan, Auraya still faces a significant financial hardship and has sold most of her personal belongings to sustain her care.

This is why I am asking the world to lend a helping hand and please find it in your hearts to donate whatever you can.
