AUREA's Non-Profit Fundraiser

AUREA is fundraising to become a non-profit! Please donate here to help us reach our goal and make this happen. In addition, anyone who donates $25 or more will be invited to an Aro-spec Game Session in August.

A while back, we asked our community if AUREA should become a nonprofit and heard a resounding yes. This transition will make AUREA the first Aro-spec specific nonprofit ever!

In addition, it will allow AUREA to apply for grants, increase fundraising capacity, pay volunteers and research participants, increase accessibility, and make us an overall more sustainable organization. This is exciting both for AUREA and the greater aromantic spectrum community.

What do you get?

AUREA is dedicated to serving the aro-spec community through education, research, and advocacy. By donating, you will be supporting growth and sustainability for the aro-spec community.

In addition, anyone who donates $25 or more will be invited to an Aro-spec Game Session in August with AUREA team members. This will be virtual and we will hosting separate sessions centered around three time zones - Pacific time, Central European time, and Australian Eastern.

Logistics

AUREA will be registering as a nonprofit in Boston, MA, USA. This is a decision we made based on the location of current team members.

We will be working with Harbor Compliance to ensure our registration is compliant with local, state, and federal laws.

While, AUREA will be a US-based nonprofit, this does not stop our ability to be a global organization. Our team members, future board members, community work, and donors will remain global.

AUREA will register as a nonprofit this calendar year.

Approval for tax exemption can take up to 6 months, but will be backdated to AUREA's incorporation date. Once incorporated, AUREA will be in "pending status" and able to start acting as a nonprofit.
