Aurora & Logan are chasing their dreams!!

I am the mother of Aurora and the part-time mom of many dancers, hockey players, baseball players and their friends. Sports has always been fundamental in my family. Every child (Aurora is the baby of the family), has played on a rep team or at a competitive level. It has been a blessing for my family as we have built and maintained lifetime friendships with other parents, players and siblings of teammates. It has taught the children team building, conflict resolution, compassion and empathy, how to set personal goals and work hard towards them, and how to lose gracefully while still having pride in your performance/play. We have had broken bones, separated shoulders, concussions, torn ligaments, sprains and severe bruises all obtained playing whatever sport they have a passion for.
Aurora is a dancer (I know what you are thinking if you aren't in the dance community - it's just dance, not like hockey...), let me tell you....the 15 - 30 hours a week at a dance studio, the exhaustion, the running and re-running of choreo until perfection, this is 9 months out of 12 per year. These kids also attend school, and some have part-time jobs, in addition. They train from the fall until competition season in the spring. Once competition hits - you will attend 3 - 6 comps a year, this year we had 4. That means you run each dance/number 4 times in total at 2 mins a piece. You either blow the judge's mind or you fail, no re-dos. That's it, there is only one #1. Their feet look like they have been through a war shoeless. All for their passion.....and love of the sport.
Logan is Aurora's best friend in the entire world and her duet partner. I know we say best friend so casually, there is nothing casual about these two. They are not a couple but have the purest and most beautiful relationship. Both have had hard personal battles to fight and go through the past couple of years, and they are always there for each other. They will pick each other up when one is down, they are each other's biggest fans, I could go on for hours about the way they dance together, the trust, the love, and the support. It is truly wonderful and they are beyond blessed to have each other. At almost every competition they are awarded a special award, a judge's choice award or a defining moment for their duet(s), the judges have repeatedly commented on their total trust and partnering over the years. The ease and fluidity of their lifts are spectacular to watch and beyond their competition.
This competition year was nothing less than epic for both of them. Their scores and personal bests have brought us home numerous trophies, special awards, small cash prizes, scholarships (for dance), the highest overall scores of entire competitons for both duets and solos and walk on dance invites for elite teams/studios at a pre-professional level (no auditioning required). They have both been invited to attend the Hollywood Summer Tour in Los Angeles for 10 days this summer, both won a partial scholarship, but it will only cover USD 1000.00 between the two of them, and they will still have the price of their flights and food aside from the tuitions. This is very exciting as they will be exposed to agents/dance in a music video/train with some renowned choreographers, and much more.
Aurora has also been given a walk-on invite to Dance with WPC in Europe next summer, and to 5 Star Dance Company to dance in the Caribbean this fall. She has also been invited to compete as a solo finalist for Miss Dance Canada Solo Finals. Logan has already won the title of Mr. Dance Canada in 2022. Both competed together at the Rising Star Talent show at the CNE in 2022 for their previous duet, unfortunately, they lost in the semi-finals, but they have been invited to come back again this year for their current duet.
These trips will give them the chance to potentially get "noticed" and build up their dance resumes as they both want to dance professionally. I have no doubt they will both do it.
Unfortunately, they are both just turned/turning 18 (Saving for University) and they don't have a whole lot of extra cash to get there. As their parents, of course, we will also help them, but any other help will 100% go towards their trip costs.
I thank everyone in advance for taking the time to read and if you can help them, great. If not, your kind well wishes, words of encouragement, thoughts & prayers will also be tremendously appreciated.
