Fashion Show presented by Aurora Walker

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always been fascinated by people that sew and make things for a living. I come from a line of women that could make art out of just about anything. I have carried on the tradition of my grandmothers and my mother and am in fact a tailor and seamstress professionally for film and television. Though I love my job and the challenges it presents, it is not creatively fulfilling in the ways of branding something entirely as your own. Working in film is mostly about interpreting the vision of others. Fashion has and always will be about expressing your own vision. Most notable designers have a distinctiveness with their work and tell their story through their designs. I have a story to tell as well.

Being born in New Orleans and raised by a single mother in Southern Mississippi, the foundation for me as far as learning to make the most with what you've got was well laid out. My mother set that example, and I have since employed that truth in my work since embarking on my own. Immediately upon graduating high school, my family and I lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and starting over in college at MS State University with literally nothing was dier. After completing my bachelor's, while gaining more experience in the industry, I was a victim of arson and lost my home, my posessions, and my portfolio of all my work once again. Since then I have overcome even more obstacles becoming a wife, a mother, and fellow comrade with student loan debt that never goes away. Even becoming a mother amidst a pandemic and politically turbulent times has only strengthened my resolve to bring my vision to life and find some joy during these hard times we all are enduring.

With that said, I am asking for your help to bring my fashion show to life by donating or spreading the word on my behalf. I have always done my best to spread love and generosity wherever I can when I can, and now I am humbly asking for your generosity in return. With costs and expenses for fabric, notions, venue space, food, beverage, sound, lighting, etc., it is needless to say I cannot do this alone. I sincerely hope you will consider donating to my campaign. If not, even your kind words and well wishes of success are gift enough as well.
