Austin's Kidney Transplant Fund
Donation protected
My name is Dennis DeWeese the father of Austin DeWeese. Austin is a 23 year old aspiring musician (drummer). Any of you who have heard him play knows he is very talented and has a bright future. He is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. He is loving and out going and is as fun loving as you can get.
In September 2017 he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure and is in need of a kidney transplant. He is currently on the kidney transplant list at the University of Michigan -which is currently a 5 year wait - and has to undergo dialysis 3 days a week. This is no small feat. He goes Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm with the remainder of those days feeling tired or suffering from headaches. He has to take more than 25 pills a day to help control things like his blood pressure and his body absorption of calcium and phosphorus -which is normally controlled by the kidneys. After the transplant he will have to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of his life - these medications can cost as much as $10,000.00 per month. We are still unsure how much of that will be covered by insurance.

Austin was attending DIME - Detroit Institute of Music Education to further his dream of being a professional musician. Because of his disease, he had to drop his classes, quit his job and move back home. His spirits remain high even though there are many trials ahead.
On January 16, 2018, 1 day after his 23rd birthday, Austin received the best present he could. We were notified that a match for a living donor had been found - in the most unlikely place. His mother, Shaundra, was a perfect match. A MOTHER GIVING LIFE TWICE TO HER SON!!! We are currently waiting for Shaun to begin her testing and and hope to have the transplant complete by the first of March.
The funds you donate will be used solely to cover the costs associated with the surgery, medications, and other expenses related to Austin and Shaun's recovery as well as future expenses for Austin.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prays for they have been answered.
