Austin Miller's Car Accident Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Update: Austin was able to come home 2 weeks after his accident. He is temporarily in a wheel chair until he can put weight on his feet again. There will be more surgery in the future to continue to repair his foot and opposite ankle. He is so thankful to be recovering at home with his family. We continue to pray a year from now he will be back to normal life. Thank you for your support to Austin’s family during this long recovery!
Early in the morning on Wednesday, October 5th, Austin Miller was in a head on collision near Beecher City while headed to work. After being extricated by the Beecher City Fire Department from his car, he was transported by helicopter to a Level 1 Trauma Center. The accident resulted in dislocation of his left hip, broken left foot, and broken right ankle. He underwent surgery to put his hip back into place and then they were able to start the repair of his right ankle with external rods and pins. He will have another surgery in the coming week to further repair his right ankle. Currently, he will just have his left foot stabilized. We are thankful to say that he is awake and happy to be alive. He is a fighter and the strongest person we know, but his road to recovery is going to be long and daunting, both physically and psychologically. He's going to require some revision and reconstruction surgeries, as well as hospitalization for a while longer and eventually physical therapy. With one broken foot and the other ankle broken, you guessed it, the doctors do not want him to put weight on his legs for at least 6 weeks.
For those of you who know Austin, you know how amazing of a guy he is. He would show up to help anyone. He is a hard worker who can’t sit still. He is a Christian, a husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He has been working as a union laborer with Laborers Local #159. We should all keep Austin and his family in our prayers in the weeks to come as he starts feeling better it will get harder and harder to keep him still.
This GoFundMe campaign aims to alleviate any financial burden during this trying time, and we are reaching out to you for support. Austin will be out of work for quite a while and his wife, Katie will need to be out of work for a lot of his recovery to provide support and care for him. We are so thankful for any contributions and well wishes.
