Auston's journey of his heart and lungs being born again.

Donation protected
18 year old Auston Babula from Valla Beach NSW, urgently awaiting a Heart and lung transplant, needs your help!

I want to take a moment to share the story of someone incredibly special to us — Auston. From the day he was born, Auston has shown remarkable strength, facing challenges that most of us can hardly imagine. He was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension, a rare and serious condition that affects the arteries in his lungs and heart. He also has Scimitar Syndrome, an equally rare congenital heart defect that leaves him with an underdeveloped right lung and pulmonary artery, both conditions leading to right heart failure.

After years of fighting bravely with medications and various treatments, Auston is now in a critical position. He urgently needs a heart and double lung transplant to survive, and with a prognosis of only six months, time is of the essence. Only 3 weeks ago, just before his 18th birthday, Auston suffered a cardiac arrest, reminding us all how urgent his situation has become.

Auston has faced more than his fair share of struggles throughout his life. He has spent countless days in the hospital, enduring life-threatening episodes and medical interventions, all while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. Instead of enjoying the simple joys of childhood, he has had to prioritize his health, stepping away from school and missing out on precious moments with friends and family.

Right now, Auston is in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he will remain until he can receive the transplant he so desperately needs. His incredible mum, Skye, and the rest of their family are by his side, providing unwavering love and support during this challenging time.

Auston will undergo his heart and lung transplant at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, where he will receive the expert care needed to help him start his new life. However, this journey will require Skye and Auston to relocate to Sydney for up to 12 months, facing not just the emotional hurdles of transplant and recovery but also the significant financial strains.
As Auston’s primary carer, Skye is currently unable to work and will be needing to take a significant amount of unpaid time off over the next several months while still having to financially support her family back home.

Thankfully, the NSW government will be covering the transplant costs, however the financial impact of this journey will still be substantial. That’s why I’m reaching out to all of you—friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers—to help support Auston and his family during this difficult time.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in Auston’s path to recovery. Your generosity will help ease the financial burden on their family and provide the stability they need as they navigate this challenging journey together.

Thank you for your kindness and support—it truly means the world to us all
