Dubai to EBC: Autism Classes St. Patrick’s BNS

Hi, my name is Claire and on the 8th of December 2023 I will be flying to Kathmandu, Nepal to begin the trek to Everest Base Camp. I am taking on this ambitious challenge to raise funds for the autism classes in my local primary school, St. Patrick’s Boy’s National School, Skibbereen, Co. Cork.

Prior to receiving a career break and moving to Dubai in 2022, I worked in this amazing school for 5 years. During this time, I worked in mainstream classes but also spent my summers working in the autism classes as part of the July Provision/Summer Provision programmes.

The children in these classes are some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet - they will never fail to light up a room and bring an incredible energy to all the staff and children who they encounter. St. Patrick’s is an advocate of inclusive education, and all children and teachers in the school love to learn with our wonderful students in our autism classes.

St. Patrick’s has 3 autism classes with children ranging from the ages of 3-12. The teachers and SNAs who work with the students are amazing at what they do!

I would love to raise some money for these classes which would go towards bus trips, swimming lessons or resources and to highlight the amazing work that these classes do. Please support me as I tackle the highest peaks by giving a little to this worthy cause.
