Autism Treatment for Connor
Donation protected
Connor Auton has been described by those who love him as having the best qualities of all human beings in that he is compassionate, kind, and not judgemental in any way. Connor Auton is brave, bold, fun, and loves to laugh. He is also a young man with autism. While autism spectrum disorder encompasses a range of abilities and challenges Connor is someone whose autism is more severe. He faces daily challenges in being able to meet his needs and communicate and also struggles with serve behavioral challenges including self-injury. For Connor and others like him these challenges are lifelong. Connor has greatly benefitted from Applied Behavior Analysis treatment throughout his life. It has enabled him be more safe, active in his community, develop meaningful relationships, and participate in activities which he loves. Despite all he has learned Connor still needs support in his daily life and ongoing treatment to reduce the severe behaviors that put him at risk for injury and limit his ability to access his world and reach his full potential. The treatment that Connor requires has limited funding for Connor as an adult. Connor’s family and friends are seeking to raise money for him to see a specialist from the United States in order to help him and keep him safe. This specialist along with the intensive treatment Connor will receive over the next year is estimated to cost between 75,000 and 100,000 dollars.
Connor is supported by a strong group of family and friends who have devoted themselves to his long term interests, but also to the interests of other individuals like him who will require lifetime support. The long term goal for Connor is to develop a non-profit society that will provide homes and specialized treatment for those with severe autism. Like Connor we are big and bold and dream big and are taking this first leap to help Connor, but also the first step toward helping others. Toward this end we want to pay it forward and any extra funds raised will be donated to another family whose loved one with autism needs support.
