Help Autistic Child's Dog Walk

***Our Story***

I am a full time mum and carer to 3 of the most amazing autistic children, for whom we also got 3 of the most amasing pups who have made an outstandingly positive impact on the quality of our boys' lives.

We sought out 3 Utonagan breed dogs to pair off with a 'key person' (each child) as they are bred specifically for use in care/hospice settings in the States/Canada and elsewhere around the world. These dogs have done as well if not better for our boys' mental health issues than any medications our specialists have provided; but it is our middle son Mark's girl, Nyx of whom I am writing today.

Nyx' is beyond words wonderful with Mark, who is 9 years old and since having her, actually smiles and laughs, whereas he did not before.

When Mark has an autistic shut down, Nyx snuggles and kisses him and he comes out of it far happier and better thereafter. She has been nothing short of magic for our son Mark. Just to clarify why Nyx has been so outstanding for Mark, he is diagnosed Autistic, but he also has ADHD, and SPD (Sensory processing disorder-- ‘moderate to severe’ in all sensory input categories); and Nyx has been the best therapy he could have ever have had-- she stays with him all day, every day, and helps him to better regulate his emotions, and has improved his anxiety to the point that we experience only very infrequent melt downs since getting Nyx for Mark.

Unfortunately, Mark's girl, despite being only just over a year old, has bilateral hip dysplasia, which is incredibly painful, and in turn means Nyx is struggling with her mobility and mood stability, which Mark cannot really understand.

Nyx' has been referred by our vet for surgical assessment; each side costs £9,345.00 GBP... Luckily, we do have lifetime pet insurance for all 3 pups, with an annual payout of £4k worth of insurance per year (which we hoped would be sufficient for their needs), however we are struggling to come up with the difference of the total balance.

I've never made a go fund me appeal before so I'm a little or of my element, but there's nothing I wouldn't do for Mark and his beautiful girl Nyx.
