Auvren's wish to bring joy to children with cancer
Donation protected
In December of 2020 Auvren received the worst news anyone could hear... "you have cancer". At only 15 years old she was diagnosed with Hodkins Lymphoma. Treament began quickly and by January her chemotherapy had begun. Even as she went through this journey herself, her heart went out to all the others teens and children she saw in the infusion center.
She completed her chemotherapy at the end of March, but soon realized she would need additional treatment in the form of radiation. In order to make her as comfortable as possible her wonderful radiology team encouraged her to pick music to listen too while having treatments. Auvren wanted to listen to something that would remind her of happy times, and in her mind nothing was happier than Christmas time. Beginning in May, as she arrived daily for her treatments the sound of Christmas music rang through the halls at the radiation center. From this idea, emerged an even bigger one. She thought again to all the other kids enduring what she was going through and wanted to do something for them. Thus the idea for Christmas in July was born.
Auvren's wish is to bring happiness and joy to all the other children who are actively receiving treatments for cancer. With her own money and your donations she plans to purchase toys and give them as Christmas gifts this July to the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax. Auvren has always put others before herself, even throughout her own battle with cancer. She is an absolutely amazing person who wants nothing more than to make others smile and with your help she can do this. Thank you!
