No Justice No Peace - Support Ava Vidal

My name is Ava Vidal and in 2018 I lost my eldest daughter to suicide. The photograph shared is of us just after I gave birth to her in 1994 when I was just 18 years old. I have never known adult life without her. I had spent considerable time and money in trying to keep my child safe from a former partner of mine. I have just been granted permission to sue him for defamation/libel by the Royal Court of Justice Queens Bench Division. There has already been a preliminary hearing in which I won and the judge granted my application. I believe I am in great danger from this obsessive, sadistic man. Years ago I voiced that  I believed this man’s interest in my child to be a very unnatural one and not the father-daughter relationship he claimed it to be. What I am being put through amounts to stalking, harassment and domestic violence. This man is determined to coercively control me and economically abuse me. I asked this man repeatedly to leave me and my daughter alone. He refuses to do so.  I can’t do this alone. I am a single parent to another daughter and all of this is taking a heavy toll on us. This area of law is expensive and tricky and despite being able to win the last two cases as a litigant in person, I don’t have the experience to navigate around it. I am raising money for legal funds so that I can see a solicitor that specialises in this area and apply for court orders. I have spent nearly £1000 already and that’s not counting on what I have spent on previous cases which runs into thousands and thousands of pounds. I don’t intend to use a barrister in court as it’s too costly. I need help with the paperwork to get to court as this is my opportunity for the truth to be revealed. I expect him to resist every step of the way as he has done in previous cases. This man’s story has never been tested despite his claims that he’s been cleared by various judges and the police. I deserve peace and the space to grieve and more importantly justice needs to be served. No parent deserves to lose a child in this way. This disturbing story needs to be told in its entirety. I understand that times are hard for so many right now and that so many of us are suffering. I have successfully raised money for many other people and now I am asking for help for myself.  Insha’Allah I raise the amount needed and if I don’t I will get as much legal help as I can afford. In 2009 when she was 15 I sent her to live with a family member in Barbados because he refused to take no for an answer and leave this teenaged girl alone. After she died I learnt that this family member (who had never met this man during our relationship) had accepted money and gifts from this man and had allowed him unfettered access to my child. She gave him details of where she was when I had sent her on holiday to New York and she even allowed him to have her to stay at his house in London for a holiday. During this period he admits he allowed his home to be used for her and her friends to consume Class A drugs and alcohol. This was just a continuation of what can only be described the grooming I had been complaining about. When she was 18 years old she moved back to London and into his house and she was discouraged from having contact with me. Within a year I found out that she was advertised as a sex worker on a website he frequented. From what I have gathered there were a few mental health episodes and suicide attempts. This man had married by this point and both he and his now ex wife have admitted her relationship with my child was difficult. There are numerous allegations made by each of them that the other had been abusing my child including that she had slept with a knife under her pillow, that she was encouraged into sex work and she was discouraged from being in touch family members so that what has happening in her life would not be discovered. His wife finally filed for divorce because of the unnatural relationship between them claiming ‘he was never really married to me, he was married to her’ meaning my child. Despite him claiming that I was plotting with her I didn’t know this woman when she filed for divorce months before my child’s death. We were just two women that lived in close proximity to them and could see something was very, very wrong. In 2018 she was finally successful in taking her own life after telling this man that the sex work was very depressing to her.

 

That same year I was taken to court in order to see who would be allowed to be in charge of my child’s estate. Sadly it was given to the relative that had betrayed me and had allowed this dangerous man access to her behind my back. I didn’t have the money for consistent legal representation whilst he has since admitted that he was funded by a multimillionaire who wanted to keep his involvement in my child’s life private. Despite what has been claimed, this was never ever a case about grooming and the role this man played in my child’s demise. I chose to not allow this part of the story to be played out in a court case where there was media coverage. The judge complimented me on this stance whilst simultaneously criticising this man for the role he played in supplying drugs to my child. During these proceedings we were all offered a confidential order because of the way the case was being played out in public and online. He and the aforementioned relative took the offer. I did not because I had nothing to hide.

 

After this case he began to harass me online using my deceased child’s photograph as a profile picture across his social media platforms. He is boasting that he has the full support of the comedy industry in which we both work. He refers to my Black child as his daughter despite him being white. He also began claiming for the first time that he had recordings of my late child. He used his confidential order to hide behind and tell horrendous lies about me. I finally took him back to court in 2020 and successfully had this order lifted. In 2021 I took my relative back to court and had her order lifted as well for the same reason. In April 2021 I had a lawyer write to him and ask for these recordings he claimed to have. Instead of responding, a couple of weeks later he released a series of podcasts in which he had someone pretend to be my deceased child claiming that I had abused her. These podcasts are littered with defamatory claims and I had them examined by an forensic audio analyst who found irregularities with them. This cost me nearly £1000. In these podcasts he has people claiming to be friends laughing at my child and calling her ‘promiscuous’ even suggesting she had to move back to the UK to sleep around. He has released WhatsApp messages he claims are from my child that are so sexually graphic it’s sickening. He had people describe sex acts she had participated in. There is no evidence this any of this is true and it’s what I can only describe as revenge porn by proxy. He has continued to harass me via 3rd parties including one that had previously pretended to be a friend of mine. I have had to file legal action against this person and I have a wealth of evidence of her lies and harassment of me including her posting photographs of my deceased child, her contacting her old school (despite the fact she would have been 28 this year) and openly colluding with him online. She didn’t turn up to the original court date making up a whole host of excuses despite it being a telephone hearing. We are due back in court on May 31st 2022 so I can’t give any further details until after this date. Last week another friend of his contacted people that I work with making wild, unfounded and disproven allegations about me. They pretended that I was under police investigation and that it was them taking me to court and not the other way around. They want to continue this campaign and become angered that I won’t sit and allow them to abuse me unchallenged. They claim I am a vexatious litigant despite me winning both the cases I took to court. I have been accused of suffering from ‘internalised white supremacy’ for reporting them to the authorities. I have been accused of ‘working hand in hand’ with the police after one of them filed false charges against me that were dismissed. Claims have been made that I am all powerful and connected to the establishment to explain this rather than this person being caught out in lie after lie. I wasn’t even arrested which would definitely have happened were she telling the truth. As well as trying to stop me working they attempted to put people off donating me. I fully expect them to keep escalating as the case is getting closer. They want a violent reaction and an online battle which they won’t be getting. He is seeing his plan to ensure I never work again through to the end.
