Avalon Garden Affordable Cooperative Housing
Donation protected
In response to the national affordable housing crisis, we at Avalon Community Land Trust are raising money to support our project: building a large, very affordable cooperative house in Bloomington, Indiana.
The Avalon Garden house will have seven bedrooms plus common areas that will be home to 7-10 low income Bloomington neighbors. Not to mention the restored Avalon Garden next door
The cost for living in the Avalon Garden Cooperative House will be $400 a month - very affordable in Bloomington!
We are making progress:
- We have the land;
- we have permits and zoning;
- we have plans and a contractor.
This spring we started construction!! Very exciting to watch the workers make progress - in spite of the constant rain which turned the dirt into mucky gumbo.
Although we are extremely pleased with the way things have gone, we are still hoping to raise enough money to install solar panels, and build the "winter courtyard/summer stage" area that makes Avalon Garden House so special.
We also want to expand our efforts and build and remodel additional housing units. We have big ideas and dreams: a whole neighborhood that is affordable and woven into the fabric of the near north side area of Bloomington
Your donations will help us realize our dreams and create the community spaces that make a neighborhood special and unique.

Our website now includes "Construction News" that shows what's happening on the job site. Drop by and see what our donors have helped make possible!
