“Help Us Find Our Purpose” by supporting Metro Theatre Co.

Metro Theatre Company's production of Avenue Q has started rehearsals, being produced, directed, acted, designed, and run by undergraduate students at UC Irvine!

“Avenue Q”, with music/lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and a book by Jeff Whitty, is a comedic interpretation of an average person’s everyday life. We follow multiple stories that culminate in a heartfelt message of community, purpose, and what makes each day and person special. The show itself brings up tough topics like racism, internalized homophobia, homelessness, sexual relationships, and the difficulty of growing up in a new modern world but it does it with PUPPETS!!

This project and Metro promote undergraduate students at UC Irvine by creating space and an opportunity for students who might not have the chance to otherwise. This show specifically also helps our community come together and laugh at how hard life can be for everyone. At Metro Theatre Company, we want to create a space where we are able to openly talk about these hard topics and build a future that is ready to meet these challenges head on.

This cannot be done without your help!

Donations to this project will be used for set construction, puppet design/creation, props, and any other cost needed for the show. Anything that is not used for this specific show will go towards the future Metro productions. Again, these projects are fully student ran and used to create community, inspire others to pursue their art, and educate undergraduate students in an environment where opportunities may seem limited or restricted.
