Avery needs her life back

Avery is a sweet, witty, and athletic girl who is going through a terrible time in her life. In September 2022, life was going great for Avery. She was settling into our new home after a big move and overcoming the isolation of COVID. Avery served as assistant captain for both her hockey teams and was actively involved in school sports. Grade 10 was shaping up to be amazing.
On September 23rd, 2022, Avery was body-checked from behind into the boards during a hockey game, severely injuring her neck. As a result, she missed attending school for the rest of the year and had to leave both hockey teams. Currently, Avery experiences constant pain and vomits twice a week.
After consulting with numerous specialists in Ontario, it has been determined that the best course of action for Avery is to seek treatment at a clinic in New York. Specialized machines available there will enable a thorough assessment of her spine, which cannot be done in Canada.
The appointment has been scheduled, and we will be traveling to New York on Wednesday evening (March 6th) staying for the duration of the appointment, and returning the following Wednesday (Mar 13th).
Like many families, the increased cost of living in recent years has impacted our financial situation. We cannot afford the expenses associated with this necessary medical trip. The testing alone costs $7800 US plus tax, with an additional approximately $4000 US required for hotels, travel, and food for two people during the stay in New York. In total, we anticipate spending around $16000 CND.
I hesitate to ask, knowing that there are many people in need, but I am determined to do whatever I can to support this funny, adventurous, courageous girl.
Please consider helping Avery regain control of her life. Your support would mean the world to her. Every 16 year old should be living the high school life—not staying home because of pain. If your support comes in the form of prayers and hopes we appreciate that too.
Our sincerest thanks.
