Avery's "Restoration Hope" S. Africa Mission Trip

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you doing well!

I wanted to share with you about an opportunity that I have this coming March to serve in South Africa. I will be joining a group from Jackson Prep that is going to work in communities that are in desperate need of help. We will be joining workers from Restoration Hope in South Africa to help the children and families.

Many communities in South Africa still suffer from the long-term effects of the AIDS pandemic and the apartheid movement in the 1960s through the 1980s. Other factors such as tribal beliefs, poverty, lack of educational resources, and unemployment keep this area from growing and flourishing as it should. When the AIDS pandemic hit, an entire generation of people passed away, which left many children to raise themselves. All these things have created a very harsh environment for children to grow up in.

Restoration Hope works through the South African Zulu people and the church in South Africa to help children and families have hope for a better future. They do this through outreach activities for children, helping with education through the school, mentoring, and discipleship. They also help with practical things such as planting gardens, tutoring, and helping to upgrade school grounds so that children can go to school in a safer environment. While we are there, we will take part in projects to help with this work.

I am excited to be a part of this life-changing opportunity and would be honored if you would consider helping me to do it. I am hoping to raise $3200 to pay for the cost of my trip and the ministry projects we will complete while we are there. Your gift would not only help me but also help many others who will benefit from the work we will be doing. I would also like to ask for prayers for our trip – for safe travels, for health, and for the many people we hope to impact for Jesus while we are there.
