Avery - Burn Campaign
Donation protected
On March 19, Avery was involved in a terrible flash explosion accident at work at Tom's Farms. Here is Avery's story as recited by her mom Allison below. **Avery is a senior in high school an honor student and is on her way to graduate and do amazing things at Colorado State (Vet School-her dream). She is going to have a very very tough battle to fight for a long time. Her family is going to have massive medical bills and ultimately college this coming Fall. Her fight has just begun. She is a warrior, but they will ultimately need help. I want to ask friends/family, anyone to help with what they can to assist as their battle to get Avery better are going to be immense and it's just beginning.**
Any help is appreciated!
... I received a call no parent ever wants to receive. It was Avery's boss who told me that she was involved in an accident at the corn roaster and it was bad, to please come right away. Avery's stepdad and I drove as fast as possible to get to her and found her sitting in the corn roaster booth covered in burns and her hair completely singed.
We scooped her up and drove her to Corona Regional Hospital where they started treatment, while arranging for transfer to a burn center. An ambulance came to the hospital and transported us to the Corona Airport where a helicopter was waiting. We airlifted Avery to UCI burn center.
Since arriving the trauma center and every single doctor have given her excellent care! Last night she was given her first debris removal bath. Burns take several days to reveal their degree but as of now we've been told second and third degree to her hands, arms, neck, face and ears.
She is doing an excellent job at communicating her pain level and following doctors orders. She will be in the hospital several days that we know of until they determine the extent of the damage. She has received an outpouring of communication and prayers from so many people and she is extremely grateful!
