AVM Employee Hurricane Relief
We are employees of AVM Industries in Marion, SC. We have about 250 employees. Many of us have been affected by Hurricane Matthew. Unlike the people on the coast, our little community is inland and we haven't been on the national news. Flooding has been our major issue. For some, depending on where they live, the water is still rising, as of Friday 10/14/16.
We have at least three employees who have lost everything; their homes, all their contents, their vehicles, all the way down to their clothes and shoes. Many other employees have major damage to thier homes that will require removal of flood damaged flooring and walls. Vehicles have been destroyed. Mold and associated health concerns are another hurdle we are facing as some employees start the cleanup process in their homes.
We are collecting funds to help any impacted employees with immediate housing, clothing and personal needs. As we get past these emergency needs, our hope is that there will be enough funds to assist emloyees with their needs to recover and rebuild.
Employees here have always helped each other and we have always been proud of our employees for that very reason. This time it is different. Almost all of us have experienced some impact. Some are still willing and able to help but as a whole, this hard-working group of people is struggling and in need. Please help us help each other.
Thank you for considering giving to us. You never want to see a disaster like this impact your fellow employees. We have made arrangements that funds will be held at a local bank. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of local business people, not tied to AVM, so that we have an independent review of needs. Funds will be dispersed based on availabilty of funds in the account and level of need.
Again, thanks for your time reading this. Thank you for your donation, if you are able. Please share our story.
