Avon VFW Post 3272 Afghan Resettlement
Donation protected
Our Post wants to help Afghan families who helped US forces in Afghanistan, often at the risk of their lives. Many wish to join other Afghans who have found refuge in the US, and it seems to us that we have a moral obligation to help them do just that.
We also want to attract younger members who have served in Afghanistan, offering them a way to conclude their own service in ways that can give them both peace of mind and the satisfaction of having helped those who put their lives at risk to help them.
We are working with the Integrated Refugee Immigration Services (IRIS) organization to accomplish this goal. IRIS has successfully resettled many refugee families in Connecticut and is eagerly helping us, too. Working through the World Council of Churches and the US State Department, IRIS can assure us that families being resettled have been thoroughly vetted; with our help, they will become solid citizens contributing to our common good.
Funds raised at this site will be used to obtain housing, clothing, food and transportation for the refugee family that will be entrusted to our care. All donations will be dedicated 100% to the benefit of relief effort and settlement. In addition, donors' names will be held confidentially unless otherwise chosen by grantors.
Thank you for your generosity!
