AWU Fletcher Insulation - Strike

Donation protected
AWU members at Fletcher Insulation have been on an indefinite strike since February 17. After setbacks in negotiations, these 89 loyal workers made the decision to establish a picket line at the front of their Dandenong factory in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs in the face of their employer seeking to reduce working conditions such as hours of work and redundancy.

The workers have assisted their employer in reaching record productivity and profit levels in recent years. The company has responded in the latest round of negotiations by offering 0% wage rises, an increase in weekly working hours, slashing redundancy packages and removing protections on job security to allow for contractors to replace full time jobs.

On 29 March the employer applied to FWC to terminate their workplace agreement which may have the effect of reducing their take home pay by over 50%. This is the first time an application for this matter has been made in the manufacturing industry and may have implications for the entire manufacturing workforce if they are successful.

Some of these workers have been employed by Fletcher Insulation for over 40 years and their loyalty and dedication to the company is being taken for granted! We ask that you assist by making a donation to these workers to ensure that they can continue to fight one of the most blatant displays of corporate greed we have witnessed.

The picket is on 24/7 at 127 Frankston-Dandenong Road, Dandenong South and visitors are always welcome.

We thank you for your support.
