Swim-a-thon for your charity...

My name is Nathaniel Stoffelsma and I am making a commitment to swim at least 1000 m every day for one year starting on my birthday August 3rd 2022 and hope you will support my 365 km swim. I will donate 100 % of the money raised to the three charities chosen by the top three donors and am hoping to raise at least 10,000 dollars for each charity.

Why am I doing this? Because about 6 years ago my son Alex was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and we are lucky to say that Alexander is cancer free and thriving. In the journey of intensive chemotherapy and over 5 months of hospitalization we were supported by so many people in so many different ways. These times are tough for many and for many different reasons so I decided I want to push myself to try and raise money for other peoples charities of choice. I feel tremendously lucky and am looking forward to the challenge I have chosen to support your charities.

360 km is approximately 6 ferry rides from our home to Vancouver where Alex received treatment.

Lastly, why am I using gofund me?

Because I am not pre selecting the charities this makes it easier to designate once the top donors are determined and have selected their charity of choice.

This does also mean unfortunately there will be no tax receipts. However as I will be donating the money you support me with, I will also match 40 % of the final donations to the chosen charities, to give any tax benefit I would receive back to the charities and maximize the benefit where it is needed.
