The Guardian Angel

Nazila Masoumzadeh was born in the city of Urmia, Iran in 1963. She was a very happy little girl who grew into a vivacious free-spirited teenager - until her freedom was no longer hers to choose. On February 11, 1979, Iran witnessed the end of a peaceful monarchy and the establishment of a new Islamic Republic. The Iranian Revolution brought forth many changes to the country and horrific injustices to women.

In 1981, Nazila sought refuge in Turkey with the intent to obtain a travel visa to any country that would welcome her into safety and restore her freedom. She was finally granted a travel visa to Canada, arriving in Ottawa with refugee status in 1986. In 2007, Nazila moved to Toronto and continues a blessing to many in our city, ever since.

Despite all hardships endured throughout her life, Nazila never lost faith in humanity. Her heart so pure, it only sees the good in others, even when they cannot see it themselves. She fears nothing, which is evidenced by the years’ long opening of her own doors to anyone in the midst of homelessness, mental instability, addictions, abuse, sex trafficking, criminal offense…the list is endless. Nazila is adamant in saving afflicted individuals entrusted to her care, ensuring their protection and safety through rehabilitation and social integration, as she guides them towards a hopeful future path.

Nazila Masoumzadeh is a woman who has spent her whole life giving absolutely everything she has towards others in need of food, clothing, shelter; as well as, medical, immigration and criminal defense representation. Nazila has always given freely without asking for anything in return. She shares a love so sacred and precious, with a treasured compassion that inspires harmony and humility to all. Mom is what they call her; Guardian Angel is how she is described.
