Teresa’s Cancer Journey

Hello my name is Teresa Rutter. On January 8th I was diagnosed with a mass on my Coleen that was possibly cancerous. I just went to the hospital because I thought I was constipated. So I just went home after that because they wanted to send me plum to Morgantown. So I waited a couple
days, went to Princeton Community Hospital for a second opinion. Sure enough it was true. So I had cancer removal surgery January 11th.
Got to go home January 18th but deep down I knew something wasn’t right because nothing at all tasted right, and I didn’t feel like myself. Well on February 7th I was right back in the hospital. I had went into septic shock. I don’t remember much from there but I was told I was on the vent, life support and all for a while. Said it was touch and go.
The next thing I remembered was being in this all silver room. Everyone was talking to me but I couldn’t respond. Finally they told me if I heard them and understood them to squeeze their hand so I did. I was in this place for days, didn’t know what happened, where I was or even if my family even knew I was there. But thankfully they did
Once I got better from that I went back to ccu finally somewhere familiar. They started working on me to get me off the vent which was great. Only thing I was down so long I gotta learn to walk all over again. They got me well enough (we thought) to leave Princeton hospital so they sent me to Gary nursing and rehabilitation center on March 3rd to learn to walk again. Well March 7th my stomach is septic again, so as of right now here I am 40 days in the hospital. I know I’m gonna need financial help to pay my bills and probably hospital bills by the time they get done. If anyone can help I’d really appreciate it
