Cycle for change Help Women Freed From Trafficking

Donation protected
We need your help to create the first 'Building Dreams Program for Women freed from human trafficking and abuse' in India.
This program will then be provided as a resource to all NGOs in India.

I'm Dr Ginny Monteiro and thank you for coming to donate towards a cause that will change the trajectory of human trafficked survivor's lives forever.

Join For Change was born to bridge the gap in services provided to women and children freed from human trafficking in India and globally. The number of people freed from human trafficking is increasing fast, which is fantastic. However, the rehabilitation services are few and are not based on scientific evidence-based strategies.

Human trafficking survivors need your help to rebuild their lives and live their dreams - it is the next step that is forgotten and we want to close this gap.

Our main goal is to help survivors rebuild their lives by giving them an opportunity to attend a Building Dreams Program that will help them restore their self-worth so that they can persevere through life's challenges.

Although the number of girls being released from human trafficking is increasing rapidly, there is no provision of special services, adoption or programs, foster programs, or government support for education and employment. We want to change this with your help.

Due to the little to no support survivors receive after they have been rescued, it is hard to measure the prevalence of suicide, and other issues among women and children who have been freed from slavery.

We are partnering with FREE A GIRL INDIA (https://www.freeagirlindia.org/)

What will happen with your funds?

The $50,000 will go towards the cost of establishing, delivering and evaluating the world's first scientifically supported 'Building Dreams Program for Women free from human trafficking and abuse'.

As a donor, you will receive a newsletter on the progress of the project. You will also have an opportunity to meet and support the women freed from human trafficking and abuse.

Phase 1 is critical to the successful co-design of the program by meeting with the women freed from human trafficking and abuse. An overview of the women's challenges and solutions matrix feeds into the resources required for the delivery and implementation of the 'Building Dreams Program for Women free from human trafficking and abuse'.

Global First 'Building Dreams Program for Women free from human trafficking and abuse'.

Aims: To provide survivors with support to recover from trauma, enhance personal characteristics -restore self-trust, regain self-worth, refuel a sense of belonging, enhance self-esteem,  develop emotional intelligence, improve health, communication and relationship building skills and entrepreneurial skills.

Scientific evidence-based strategies are important for sustainable change in the lives of human trafficking survivors.

- The results from this program will be published in scientific journals and presented at conferences.

- The 'Building Dreams Program for Women free from human trafficking and abuse' will be made available in facilitation package to all NGOs supporting women and children freed from human trafficking in India.

- This pilot program will be used to obtain bigger grants to develop a Global program that supports women and children free from human trafficking.

- This project will be undertaken by a doctoral or post-doctoral student who will have a background in psychology and behavioural sciences.

A bit about me:
I'm Dr Ginny Monteiro, I have a PhD in Behavioural Sciences. My life started in a rural village in India. I was abused for about a decade - I was numb and invisible which made me a prey for human traffickers. I escaped but other girls are not so lucky.

When I came to Australia I dreamed of being able to go to the villages and give other girls hope. I had come to Australia with $500 and in 12 years I had saved $140,000 towards the safe house.  Then in November 2015, the Australian government sent me an email to let me know the company I had invested the money in Australia was a ponzi scheme. That was it, the money was gone. Life's challenges test our resilience. I had my moment of being in the dredges when I got this email.

At this time, I was on a daring solo cycling expedition for 3000 kilometers across India giving talks in universities, schools and communities.  I got the news from the Australian government when I had 1000 kilometers to go. I was shattered, I wanted to give up but I knew that if I did not try again then these girls would continue to live a life without fulfilling their dreams. I could not let that happen.

After returning to Australia I started working and looking at other avenues to build these funds. I worked relentlessly for 2 years but I could not save the money fast enough and i wanted to make sure it was a sustainable source of income for the safe house and advocacy programs.

In 2018, I decided to start a company with my behaviour science expertise: www.AltitudeMinds.com (corporate behaviour change training programs).
I imagined the profits could support the safe house - I had no business background, no product development background etc.  so even though I know the content I did not have the funds to support me with a team. I am still building the business but I cannot wait to support the girls anymore- so I am asking for your help to support the development of this 'Leadership Program for Women and Children free from human trafficking and abuse'.
