Amanda’s Heart Surgery Recovery

Hello everyone,

My name is Tyler Maddox and I started this go fund me for my cousin Amanda Miller. She is in her early 30s and had her fourth open heart surgery in April. Last week she was sent from Augusta Health to UVA due to low heart function. Her heart was functioning in the low 20% range. Tuesday, July 11th, she had another procedure done at UVA on her pacemaker. She was given an upgraded device and more leads were added from the pacemaker to her heart. Amanda is likely going to be placed on a heart transplant list. She is going to be working with the Mayo Clinic to see what options she has. We have no idea how long this will take or the recovery time for it. Amanda is a mother of two boys that she has 50% custody of. She will be out of work for the unforeseen future and I really would like to help her as much as possible with monthly bills and the upcoming hospital bills from Augusta health and UVA for the heart procedures and ER visits. If you feel led, please give. If you don’t please pray for Amanda and her boys in the coming days. She is a fighter but can use all of the prayers she can possibly get. An update from Amanda this evening 7/17/2023: She saw the heart failure team at UVA today. She is still retaining fluid and they upped two of her new heart medicines. She will be out of work for a minimum of two more months.

An update from Amanda on 8/9/2023:

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. The money raised has helped tremendously and the prayers for me and my boys are appreciated and needed beyond measure. To add to the last update, I have started cardiovascular physical therapy 3 days a week, pushing my heart to regain the strength it has lost. I am on all 4 of the heart failure meds that are a pretty crucial role in the chance of regaining strength or at the very least stop any further damage and we are slowly increasing those to try to maximize the dosage of each without making me feel too terrible. My body is handling the meds well and so far there is no damage to any other organs caused by the meds, they can start effecting kidney function. I am running on a pretty low blood pressure due to the medications but over all I feel well. I’m still on hold to go back to work as of now, it’s tough because I love my job and the ladies I have the pleasure of cutting up with all day long and being off work is financially stressful. I’d like to ask you all to please continue to pray for my children and me, I am very confident that those prayers are what is keeping my condition stable and me sane.
