Ayúdanos a salvar a mamá, Irma Serrano

Te necesito a ti, te necesito sana, te necesito viva.

No me dejes.

Lucha, mami, lucha.

Lucha, mami, lucha."

                                                              ________________________________________________________

Hello everyone.

Today I come to you, to ask you to help me and my siblings to save my mother.

First, for those of you who don't know her, I want to tell you a little bit about her.

My mother is a psychologist, perhaps several people from Guayaquil (the city of Ecuador in which we live) know her and for those who do not, I can assure you that she has dedicated her life to serving others. My mom has helped countless people, repeatedly putting herself at risk or not caring about herself in order to serve others.

Outside of the office she transforms into something like Wonder Woman, she never stops. She belongs to a social aid organization and has dedicated most of her time to serving the community, always saying "give of yourself before thinking about yourself" or repeated and repeated "who does not live to serve, is useless to live "these words have been deeply engraved in my mind.

In 2016, Ecuador was hit by a terrible earthquake that claimed many lives and put many others at risk, she was there in the middle of everything. Without thinking much about it, she took risks, brought food, coordinated with NGOs, the Red Cross and firefighters from some of these cities in Manabí (the province that was most affected) to bring help to those who need it the most. She even coordinated with a foreign NGO so that first responders in Ecuador were able to learn emergency intervention techniques and for almost a year she worked for these victims. These are a few examples of the multiple times that she has turned her life upside down for others.

When the covid-19 pandemic began in 2020, we all begged her to stop working, that she was more important and that she should not be exposed. She refused. She told us "people need me, if someone is going through a situation of pain, I will be there" and she continued to give her life for others.

For us, her children, she always gave everything, she has always been everything. I don't remember a moment in my life in which I felt alone, no matter where she was, I always knew that she was there, it was not necessary to be afraid.

About a week ago, I met fear for the first time. My mom got sick. On Monday, January 11, 2021, she was detected covid-19. This disease has been extremely aggressive towards her. The same day she was diagnosed we had to give her oxygen from home, on Tuesday we had to admit her to the hospital, on Wednesday we had to intubate her.

She keeps fighting, and I have faith that she will win the fight. But we no longer have more resources to continue helping her fight.

We have tried everything, the only hope we have left is to transfer her to Colombia so that she can receive a treatment that has been successful in patients who, like her, have reached that terrible extreme of gravity, so we need to pay for an ambulance plane to take her there.

Please, all help counts, I can't lose my mom.

She is one of those people who makes you regain faith in humanity, even when it seems that everything is lost, she brings light, brings peace, brings protection.

We count on your help.

* The funds will be transferred to the account of my husband, Luis Eduardo Vivas (Irma Serrano's son-in-law). GoFundMe requires a USA Bank Account to be able to withdraw the funds collected and thus be able to bring them to Ecuador to cover medical expenses from my mom. We make this clarification at the request of the page.

"Today we put you to sleep, so that your lungs can rest, so that you come back to us, so that you come back to me.

I'm not ready to lose you

I feel you everywhere.

I feel you in the wind, I feel you in my fear, I feel you in the strength that I get from I don't know where; I feel you in the anger that I have,

I need you, I need you healthy, I need you alive.

Everyone tells me "she is very strong" but I know the truth, I know that you pretend to be strong but deep inside you, you are dying with fear, I know that you put on a mask so that we feel better.

I'm going to wear that mask from now on.

Forgive me for not keeping that promise I made to you as a child, to always take care of you.

I couldn't, it got out of hand, I'm going to spend the rest of my life making up for it, I swear to you. I beg you to come back.

Fight, mommy, fight.

I love you; I need you and I miss you.

I pray that this crazy idea of us does not come true. I do not want that scorpion that we tattoo on our skin makes us see each other in another life.

I want you in this, I need you in this.

Do not leave Me.

Fight, mommy, fight.

Come back to us, we can't without you.

I will not sleep, I will not be awake, I will not live until you are with me again.

Fight, mommy, fight. "
