Loss is tough, and the unexpected loss of a son is even tougher. As friends of Michael Ayers, we wanted to support him in a practical way during this sensitive time in his life.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, July 11, 2019, Michael's only son, Kheri Ayers, was in a fatal car accident in Alabama while traveling to a family reunion for the weekend. Kheri, age 29, was one of four passengers in the car that was struck by a drunk driver. Also in the car with Kheri was his mother, his aunt, and a family friend. All of them resided in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In the blink of eye, the historical legacy of an entire family was obliterated. Kheri, father of a 2-year-old son, was an accomplished chef and up and coming leader in the culinary arts industry.
