Atheneum Pottelberg visits South West Australia
Ayla has been chosen as one of the ten students from the Atheneum Pottelberg school in Kortrijk, Belgium to get the chance to visit South West Australia in February 2016, as a result of a recent exchange with the ANZAC Centenary School in Collie, Australia. During that exchange, Ayla was chosen to attend The Last Post ceremony in Ieper Belgian with the Australian students to honor those who died in WWI and to commemorate Anzac Day.
To help Ayla and her classmates get to Collie, the students, parents and teachers will have to raise the necessary funds. They are all working hard to raise money via car and bike washes, food, wine and clothes sales and many more activities.
Every little bit counts! If you feel like donating, that would be amazing! For every cent earned, Ayla has to earn it and work for it. She has to be entrepreneurial, motivated, hard-working, committed and persuasive. All of those things can shape her well. She's up for a challenge, so please, if you donate, make sure to give her a way to earn that money. Propose 20 new English vocabulary words she has to learn; get her to read and study one of your favorite English poems; have her memorize all the names of the 50 states or the Australian map; force her to listen to music that you feel she must hear and appreciate, and so on (within reason of course ;-). Keep in mind she has a bad knee so things that involve running, jump roping, etc..., would be too hard for her right now. Some of you will see Ayla in Belgium or The States soon. Feel free to challenge her to do something for you in person too, such as cook a meal, carry your luggage, refill your glass with ice, polish your shoes, and then some!
