Ayrshire Farm Abuse
Donation protected
Ayrshire Farm is a Certified Humane and Certified Organic Farm located in Upperville, VA and owned by nationally recognized animal rights advocate Sandy Lerner. Unfortunately Ayrshire Farm falls short of not only the Certified Humane standards but the state code of Virginia outlining necessary care for animals and livestock .
Ayrshire Farm routinely denies their pigs food and water, appropriate shelter, and veterinary care when necessary. They do not prevent disease, control the spread of disease, or treat disease when needed. Essentially they prevent wellness and promote illness.
Additionally staff physically abuses pigs through kicking, pulling by their ears and tails, and even lassoing.
Ayrshire Farm does not utilize best management practices nor appropriate animal husbandry practices and the results have severe ethical consequences.
Owner, management, and staff are all aware and readily participate and support a cycle of abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment.
I have worked with Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) and Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) and am not satisfied with the results of their findings. I will touch on HFAC in a bit but am focusing on what can be done through legal channels and That deals with LCAS.
After a long criminal animal cruelty investigation by LCAS in which they agree the evidence is disturbing and indicative of abuse, they believe the farm has cleaned up it's act and will not press criminal cruelty charges. Keep in mind Ayrshire Farm hosts luncheons for LCAS at the farm mansion and wines and dines them complete with silver and crystal...possible conflict of interest. Additionally LCAS did not bring in a veterinarian or pig expert to review evidence. I now have 2 options...
1. Resubmit material to LCACC for review (Not sure what difference that will make)
2. Go directly to the magistrate and get a warrant for their arrest based on my evidence and take this to.court.
I am going for option 2. In order to do this effectively I need serious support...for a lawyer, veterinarian review of evidence, printing evidence for court visuals, and other services I can not get pro bono.
Please consider donating to this cause. It is in OUR hands to get justice and hold these individuals responsible for their actions.
I am going to The magistrate on Monday March 3rd.
Time is of the essence.
Help me rally to support these pigs that suffer terribly at Ayrshire Farm. This is our opportunity to hold these individuals accountable through the court system and stop neglect.
