Ayuda a afrontar el tratamiento y medicamentos de mi padre

Mi padre Juan José María González de Chaves Dreyer, mejor conocido como Hansi por sus amigos, junto con mi madre Carolina, están pasando por los peores momentos de su vida, debido a una inesperada y crítica situación de salud desarrollada al otro lado del mundo de su hogar en Tenerife, Islas Canarias.

Yo soy su hija María Victoria, y resido actualmente en la ciudad de Monterrey, México donde tras un año de no haberlos visto, mis padres decidieron venir a visitarme y tenían su viaje programado del 14 de marzo al 25 de abril.

El día 31 de Marzo, ya estando en Monterrey, mi padre comenzó a sentirse mal, con mucho cansancio, tos y falta de aire al respirar. Pensado que esto podría ser una gripe o catarro, acudimos a una consulta médica en un hospital y se le recetaron varios medicamentos. Tras varios días, el día 10 de abril mi padre empeoró y regresó a una consulta médica, esta vez en una clínica externa, donde perdió la sensibilidad total de su pierna derecha durante varios minutos.

Acudimos rápidamente a urgencias de un hospital privado, donde le hicieron numerosas pruebas y tuvo que ser internado. En su pierna derecha encontraron varios trombos a nivel de la ingle, y se determinó que sus pulmones estaban colapsados. Tras dos días internado, sus síntomas empeoraron y tuvo que ser trasladado a la UCI. La pierna derecha de mi padre empezó a perder la circulación rápidamente y su pie comenzó a ponerse de color negro, con riesgo de requerir ser amputada desde la cadera. Sus pulmones empeoraron y tras varios estudios se diagnosticó que tenía una hemorragia alveolar difusa (sangre en los pulmones).

Se le hizo una trombectomia quirúrgica en la pierna para poder extraer los trombos, sin embargo es un procedimiento temporal que se tuvo que llevar acabo debido a su crítica situación de salud. Mi padre va a requerir una nueva operación en su pierna llamada angioplastia y colocación de stent, lo cual es muy costoso y sobrepasa los 15.000€, pero esto es necesario para poder salvar su pierna.

Sin embargo, lo más grave de la salud de mi padre son sus pulmones. Se le dieron numerosos medicamentos, a demás del uso de una mascarillas de oxígeno no invasiva, para que de este modo sus pulmones mejoraran. Tras varios días se vio una pequeña mejoría, sin embargo tras 15 días en la UCI sus pulmones dejaron de mejorar y continúan en estado crítico.

Debido a la cantidad de días en la UCI, el estrés del cuerpo a tanta medicación y la crítica condición de salud, los médicos decidieron el pasado 25 de abril, entubar y sedar a mi padre para que su mejoría no se viese afectada por su salud mental, que cómo entenderán tras tantos días comenzó a agobiarse y desesperarse, lo cual empeoró la situación.

Tras 20 días en el hospital privado tuvimos que pagar una cuenta que ascendía los 90.000€ (1.620.000 pesos mexicanos) teniendo que pedir dinero prestado y endeudarnos ante la grave situación. Mis padres habían contratado un seguro de viaje, sin embargo el seguro no se quiere hacer cargo de la póliza, alegando que la enfermedad de mi padre ya venía desde España (nadie sale de viaje estando enfermo). Debido a que ya no tenemos más recursos económicos, tuvimos que trasladar a mi padre a un hospital público, donde la atención no es la misma y todo es mucho más lento. Aún seguimos teniendo que pagar medicamentos y los tratamientos que aún faltan para que mi padre se pueda recuperar.

Se que todos tenemos problemas con los que lidiar en el día a día, pero lo que estamos viviendo es algo que nunca pensaríamos que pudiese ocurrir, y pedimos solidaridad y que empaticen con nosotros.

Por favor ayúdenos a compartir lo que estamos viviendo y a donar lo que puedan para poder seguir pagando el tratamiento y medicamentos de mi padre. Cualquier donación, por muy pequeña que sea, nos puede ayudar para que mi padre se pueda recuperar y pueda regresar a casa, su casa en Tenerife.

Help us afford my father's treatment and medications

My father, Juan José María González de Chaves Dreyer, better known as Hansi by his friends, along with my mother Carolina, are going through the worst moments of their life due to an unexpected and critical health situation that developed on the other side of the world from their home in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

I am their daughter, María Victoria, and I currently reside in Monterrey, Mexico. After a year of not seeing them, my parents decided to come visit me, with their trip scheduled from March 14 to April 25.

On March 31, while in Monterrey, my father began to feel unwell, experiencing severe fatigue, cough, and shortness of breath. Thinking it might be the flu or a cold, we went to a medical consultation at a hospital, and he was prescribed several medications. Several days later, on April 10, my father's condition worsened, and he returned for a medical consultation, this time at an outpatient clinic, where he lost all sensation in his right leg for several minutes.

We quickly went to the emergency room of a private hospital, where he underwent numerous tests and had to be admitted. They found several clots at the groin level in his right leg, and it was determined that his lungs had collapsed. After two days in the hospital, his symptoms worsened, and he had to be transferred to the ICU. My father's right leg quickly began to lose circulation, and his foot started to turn black, with the risk of needing to be amputated from the hip. His lungs deteriorated further and after several studies, he was diagnosed with diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (blood in the lungs).

He underwent surgical thrombectomy in his leg to remove the clots, however, it is a temporary procedure that had to be carried out due to his critical health condition. My father will require a new surgery in his leg called angioplasty and stent placement, which is very costly and exceeds €15,000, but this is necessary to save his leg.

However, the most serious concern regarding my father's health is his lungs. He was given numerous medications, in addition to the use of a non-invasive oxygen mask, to improve his lung function. After several days, there was a slight improvement, but after 15 days in the ICU, his lungs stopped improving and remain in critical condition.

Due to the number of days in the ICU, the stress of the body from so much medication, and the critical health condition, the doctors decided on April 25 to intubate and sedate my father so that his recovery would not be affected by his mental health, which, as you can understand, after so many days began to overwhelm and despair him, worsening the situation.

After 20 days in the private hospital, we had to pay a bill that amounted to €90,000 (1,620,000 Mexican pesos), having to borrow money and go into debt due to the serious situation. My parents had taken out travel insurance, however, the insurance company refuses to cover the policy, claiming that my father's illness had already started in Spain (nobody travels while sick). Because we no longer have financial resources, we had to transfer my father to a public hospital, where the care is not the same and everything is much slower. We continue to pay for medications and the treatments that are still pending for my father to recover.

I know we all have daily issues to deal with, but what we are experiencing is something we never thought could happen, and we ask for solidarity and empathy.
