Simon is home with us again! Now he has to do rehab and take a lot of pills daily, but hopefully he will recover soon. If he gets worse... surgery will be needed, so hopefully that's not the case. We still need donations for the rehabilitation sessions now and for all the tests for these days. So please, keep helping him. And if you can't donate, sharing his story on social media helps a lot! Simón is a 9 year old dog that was adopted when he was 3 months old. He was in such horrible conditions but despite that he was always really brave and recovered very fast, and he was very happy with us, his family! A couple years ago, in 2017, he got very sick from his bones so he couldn't walk and we took him to the Vet. They told us that he suffered from Leishmaniasis but the illness was not as severe so since that day, he has to take medication every day, twice at day. He has always been a very happy dog but sometimes he would relapse and have problems with his bones again, but he always recovered so he would be able to walk and run in the forest because he loves that, he loves to go for a walk all the time and he never gets tired so it's really hard for me to see him like this, because now he can't walk. Everything was going well until a few weeks ago, when we started to notice that he couldn't walk again and he started to have immense trouble with his back legs, so we went to the vet again and they told us that it could be due to a bad movement he made and that he will recover soon with some pills that they provided us, so he started with 1 and half pills per day and now he is taking 8 pills a day. We tried and waited to see what happened but he got worse. He couldn't walk anymore, he couldn't move either. I thought he was gonna die that weekend. Today, the 14th we took him the first hour to the Vet again and they sent us to another Vet to get him a CT scan in the city. In the last Vet we spent like 300€ in medication and all those things, because the first time that we took him to the Vet, they took blood tests to control his illness and everything was right so they did not know what our dog had, so we took him to the other Vet and they charged us 590€ for the CT scan and we have to leave him at the vet for a few days to understand what exactly he has ( I asked for a few more because gofound me charges for commissions and it's a estimate of the money, it can be more if he has to stay more days at the vet. He's been there since this morning) but they had called and told us that they don't know what exactly he has, that the CT scan was not clear so tomorrow (15/09) they have to do a few other tests, like a radiography to try to find the problem and if there is something bad, he will need surgery and it will be like 2.500€ or 3.000€ to make it happen. But they noticed that he has problems with his left leg and it's really dangerous, so if he needs surgery ( we will know tomorrow 15th) I'm going to need more money, but I hope that's not the case. I hope that he can get better with pills or recovery only, but the most import thing right now is that Simon doesn't suffer and that he comes back to his family as soon as possible. A family member loaned us money for the CT but we have to give them the money back as soon as possible. My mom is the only person that works in my household right now during this pandemic, but she has to pay for everything in our house and we can't afford all this along with the our Simon’s situation. I don't know what to do, sincerely, we are desperate, I hate to do this but I can't find a job tomorrow, it's not easy considering we are going through a global pandemic and no one is hiring during these times so I decided to ask for help, we paid for his first vet visit with everything that we had available to us (it was like 300€) so right now we do not have any money left to cover the rest of the procedures and the costs that come with getting those done. I do not like to do this, but my Simón's health is the most number one priority to us, because he is our family and we love him so much and if we can give our lives for him we would do it without hesitation , he makes us extremely happy and we can't lose him. Simón ya está en casa! Ahora debe hacer rehabilitación y tomarse muchas pastillas pero ojalá se recupere pronto. Si empeora... hará falta cirugía así que esperemos que no pase eso. Simón es un perro de 9 años que fue adoptado cuando tenía 3 meses. Estaba en unas condiciones muy malas del abandono pero siempre ha sido valiente, así que se recuperó rápido y ya fue siempre muy feliz con nosotros, su familia. Hace unos años atrás, desde 2017 más o menos se puso muy enfermo de los huesos y le costaba andar, le llevamos al veterinario y nos dijeron que tenía leishmaniosis pero que no estaba tan avanzado así que está medicado desde ese día hasta ahora con unas pastillas que toma por la mañana y por la tarde diarias. Siempre ha sido muy feliz, pero a veces le daba recaídas por su enfermedad ya que hay varias formas de que los perros lo tengan, pero a él le tocó el de los huesos. Pero él siempre terminaba recuperándose y ya podía volver a correr por el bosque, que es lo que más le gusta hacer. Siempre quiere pasear, a todas horas y no se cansa asi que es muy duro ver que ahora no puede caminar ya. Todo iba bien hasta que unas semanas atrás empezamos a notar que no se apoyaba bien de las patas traseras y que le costaba un poco andar, asi que fuimos al veterinario otra vez y nos dijeron que puede ser de un mal gesto y que se recuperaría en unas 3 semanas con unas pastilla que nos dieron, pasó de tomarse una pastilla y media al día a tomarse unas ocho pastillas al día. Intentamos esperar para ver si veíamos un cambio, pero eso no pasó. Empeoró muchísimo de un día a otro y dejó de caminar, no podía moverse e intentaba arrastrarse, pero no podía. Así que ya estaba siempre en su cama sin poder moverse y hacía sus necesidades allí también y sinceramente creía que moriría en ese fin de semana. El lunes 14/09 a primera hora le volvimos a llevar al veterinario y nos mandaron a otro veterinario del centro para poder hacerle un TAC ya que ellos no lo hacían aquí. Así que nosotros ya habíamos gastado unos 300€ en consultas del veterinario, medicamentos, y pruebas ya que la primera vez que fue, le hicieron las pruebas de sangre para controlar su enfermedad y salió todo correcto por lo cual no sabían que tenía. Así que le llevamos al otro veterinario de Barcelona y nos cobraron 590€ para el TAC y tenerlo ingresado allí hasta que sepan que es lo que tiene exactamente. (Pido un poco más por que gofundme se lleva comisión y el precio es un presupuesto, puede variar si debe quedarse más días ingresado o si necesita otro medicamento. Lleva ingresado desde esa mañana) Pero han llamado y han dicho que no saben aún que es lo que tiene, que no les ha salido claro en el TAC así que mañana deben hacerle otro tipo de radiografía para intentar encontrar el problema pero si es que es algo que debe ser operado, serán unos 2.500-3.000€ para poder hacerlo. Pero que notan que ha perdido sensibilidad en la pata trasera izquierda y de 1-5, un 3 es de grave. Así que si necesita operarse (lo sabremos mañana día 15/09) tendré que subir el precio aquí pidiendo ayuda, pero ojalá no pase eso y simplemente necesite recuperación. Pero lo importante es que Simón no sufra y vuelva lo antes posible a casa, con su familia. El dinero para el TAC nos lo dejó un familiar pero tenemos que devolverle pronto y no disponemos de ese dinero ahora mismo. Nos ha pillado desprevenidos toda la situación y mi madre es la única que trabaja en casa actualmente y además debe pagar todos los gastos de casa y no podemos con todo el coste de los tratamientos. Yo no sé que hacer ya sinceramente, estamos muy desesperados y odio tener que hacer esto pero no sabía que más hacer, así que decidí pedir ayuda. Ya habíamos dado nuestros ahorros para las primeras pruebas, así que ahora no nos queda nada. Me sabe muy mal hacerlo, pero es por la salud de quien más queremos en nuestra familia. Simón lo es todo para nosotros y si pudiéramos dar nuestras vidas por él, lo haríamos sin dudarlo. Cualquier ayuda se acepta, de verdad.
