Ayúdanos a convertir la imaginación en realidad.

Osikán es un vivero de creación, investigación, acción e imaginación social en el que artistas, especialistas, activistas y comunidades conviven. Un vivero de encuentros y de participación que imagina estrategias de lo sensible para potenciar diálogos críticos, reparar heridas sociales en nuestros contextos de vida y de trabajo hoy. Activamos la creación con el deseo de poner las manos en la tierra. La germinación de aprendizajes colectivos, proyectos curatoriales, alianzas, pensamiento crítico, deambulaciones y delirios.

El origen y la trayectoria más visible de Osikán se sitúa en Cuba hace más de 10 años en un contexto de artistas que trabajaban de manera crítica en los márgenes y las periferias de las instituciones culturales estatales.

Desde el 2019 Osikán - vivero de creación e imaginación social se establece en Madrid tejiendo alianzas con comunidades, colectividades y artistas Afro, migrantes, trans y racializades en conexión con otras redes alternativas y circuitos internacionales.

Entre los proyectos más visibles de los últimos años se encuentran : I love Madrid, 2019 (Naves Matadero - Centro internacional de artes vivas); El vuelo del hipotálamo (2021 - actualidad); […] como las olas del mar iré y volveré […], Festival Conciencia Afro 2022 en Matadero Madrid, Los Caribes - grupo de trabajo sobre la diáspora migratoria en el barrio de Legazpi 2022 - 2023 (Centro de Residencias Artísticas de Matadero), El marabuzal - vivero de creación cruzado La Habana - Madrid 2023. La Residencia Afronteriza diseñada y coordinada en colaboración con el Centro Cultural Espacio Afro 2023.

En septiembre de 2023 abrimos nuestro espacio de creación independiente en la calle Peñuelas 61 a 100 metros de Espacio Afro, con quien compartimos agendas y programas de creación, con la motivación de tejer conjuntamente una geografía de convivencias y colaboraciones posibles.

Imaginamos ese espacio como un lugar seguro para la creación, el pensamiento, la investigación y el artivismo impulsado por personas Afro, migrantes, trans y racializades.

Imaginamos un palenque colectivo para el cambalache de saberes y sabores. Un espacio para comer, abrazar, tejer, amar, estar, reposar, reparar, sanar en comunidad.

Un espacio para conectarnos con nuestras espiritualidades, ancestralidades y deseos.

Para la apertura del espacio contábamos con un pequeño fondo ahorrado en el tiempo que se invirtió en la reparación, pintura y acondicionamiento del lugar y para cubrir el coste de alquiler, gastos de luz, agua e internet de los últimos meses.

Pero el fondo se agotó y estamos en cero.

Estamos aplicando a ayudas y subvenciones que en caso de salir, llegarían para finales de este año y 2025. Imaginamos a diario ejercicios para ensayar la sostenibilidad pero ahora mismo necesitamos ayuda urgente para no tener que cerrar el espacio por la incapacidad de mantenerlo.

Hemos diseñado una programación nacional e internacional, formaciones, talleres, ciclos de performance, escrituras, músicas, exposiciones, comidas para estos meses. Pero todo esto peligra.

Desde Osikán, que en lengua yoruba significa el corazón de la piedra te hacemos este llamado: ayúdanos a mantener este espacio, ayúdanos a crecer, ayúdanos a meter las manos en la tierra, ayúdanos a convertir la imaginación en realidad.

Help us turn imagination into reality.

Osikán is a nursery for creation, research, action, and social imagination where artists, specialists, activists, and communities coexist. A nursery of encounters and participation that imagines strategies of the sensible to enhance critical dialogues, heal social wounds in our current life and work contexts. We activate creation with the desire to get our hands dirty. The germination of collective learnings, curatorial projects, alliances, critical thinking, wanderings, and deliriums.

The most visible origin and trajectory of Osikán are located in Cuba more than 10 years ago in a context of artists critically working on the margins and peripheries of state cultural institutions.

Since 2019, Osikán - a nursery for creation and social imagination has been established in Madrid, weaving alliances with Afro, migrant, trans, and racialized communities and artists in connection with other alternative networks and international circuits.

Among the most visible projects in recent years are: I love Madrid, 2019 (Naves Matadero - International Center for Living Arts); The Flight of the Hypothalamus (2021 - present); […] like the waves of the sea I will go and return […], Afro Consciousness Festival 2022 at Matadero Madrid, The Caribbeans - a working group on migratory diaspora in the Legazpi neighborhood 2022 - 2023 (Artistic Residency Center of Matadero), The Marabuzal - Havana - Madrid crossover creation nursery 2023. The Afronteriza Residency designed and coordinated in collaboration with the Cultural Space Afro 2023.

In September 2023, we opened our independent creation space at 61 Peñuelas street, 100 meters from Espacio Afro, with whom we share agendas and creation programs, motivated to weave together a geography of possible coexistences and collaborations.

We imagine this space as a safe place for creation, thought, research, and artivism driven by Afro, migrant, trans, and racialized individuals.

We imagine a collective palenque for the exchange of knowledge and flavors. A space to eat, hug, weave, love, be, rest, repair, heal in community.

A space to connect with our spiritualities, ancestries, and desires.

For the opening of the space, we had a small fund saved over time that was invested in the repair, painting, and conditioning of the place and to cover the cost of rent, expenses for electricity, water, and internet for the last few months.

But the fund has run out, and we are at zero.

We are applying for grants and subsidies which, if granted, would arrive by the end of this year and 2025. We imagine daily exercises to practice sustainability but right now we urgently need help to avoid having to close the space due to the inability to maintain it.

We have designed national and international programming, training, workshops, performance cycles, writings, music, exhibitions, meals for these months. But all this is at risk.

From Osikán, which in the Yoruba language means the heart of the stone, we make this call: help us maintain this space, help us grow, help us get our hands dirty, help us turn imagination into reality.
